Arturia is very underrated for processing... they're on my list of bundles to get... they've done a great job replication... you showed some great uses of the plugins... The bundle of both synths and effects is very affordable

Currently I only have the Rev Plate 140, and it became my favorite voc verb right away. The "N***" Comp Diode sounds really good soon as you turned it on....punch and more PUNCH!!. You don't have to do much to make a difference. Their Sta L**** sounds pretty nice....I've never had a plug emulation of that one. The harmonic distortion from the 1973 is really cool on that synth!!.....very convincing.

I LOVE Arturia's plugins, make sure to watch out for their Christmas deals where they give away a new plugin! I got the Plate 140 and the JUNO chorus from them that way. I'd recommend anyone buy them, but getting them free was so cool. Arturia are awesome.

Hi Warren, great review! I’ve been a big user of Arturia products for many years and IMHO Arturia have developed a very good range of very useable vst instruments and plugins that, again IMHO do very good things. PS. I’m more on the heavier end of rock and they work for me!

I had the first FX bundle and was able to pick up the new one at a great price. Ive barely scratched the surface with them. Unfortunately or fortunately i also just picked up the plugin alliance mix and mastering bundle which i LOVE, so I’ve been doing a deep dive into those at the moment. Ive used some of the original Bundle in tracks but need to play with some of the new plugins.interesting to see how youre using them to overdrive and really color the sound. My music is usually Dub and Dub techno. A different type of sound than the track you’re working with but it gives me some great ideas about driving my basses and drums harder. This also gives me a good overview of the plugins i haven’t played with yet. Thanks!

Arturia have some always done a great job with it’s analogue range. As seen with a few simple tweaks adding that analogue sound makes the track feel like it always belonged there, brilliant!

I really enjoyed this demo. I own all the Arturia software products (as well as some hardware). Clearly the added distortion/saturation and processing unbalanced your mix... but the audio excitement was great. I think one of the things that should be mentioned is that nobody had access to nearly as many tracks in a mix in the past. Your thoughts about trying to capture/create truth in the analogue world are very important. I was trained in a big studio in Sydney, using tape, Neve & SSL consoles and an extraordinary amount of outboard gear. But even when we synced 2 x 24 track 2" machines or slaved a 2" analogue to a 32 track digital machine, there was nothing like the track count today. I think that the music production world has forgotten quality over quantity. And also sonic commitment. We had didn't have endless undo or options, in my experience that makes for better art. I actually got the EMT Plate for free a couple of years ago ... and it blew my socks off. It's just such a rich sound. Clear but warm, with extra features that can alter it completely. That encouraged me to get the whole FX Collection, which I think is stunning. The Dimension D just immediately makes everything shine and shimmer, and the new compressor, EQ and Mix Buss are pretty fab! Worth every penny! ... Love their synths too ,and these FX can add some grit and girth to those too, as you proved in you great review! Thanks :)!

I use the compressor at the end of the delay to duck the delays when the vocal is going. It keeps the vocal cleaner sounding

PLAP could you please do a video sometime on what works well with what when it comes to sidechaining. The only technique that really gets exposure is the classic kick ducks bass but it would be so helpful to know other configurations and the reason behind them. Muchos Gracias

For those who are at 32:29 and not hearing the Compression circuit... just head over to 34:58 :) ...this is when Warren figures out that those circuit paths have been muted. Heheh. @@slamcrank there is only one path, those are individual paths they are ways to control volumes of the individual elements. Whether they are muted or not doesn't;t effect the output, the volume controlled on each is just for each element.

I bought the first FX Collection in november : so amazing bundle ! I use it all the time, 201 delay, 140 plate, Rev Intensity, the comps and the pres : love the TridA for acoustic guitar, 1973 for bass and electric guitars, PreV76 for acoustic drums. Thanks Arturia, c'est du bon travail !

I especially liked the pre-amp section. Surprisingly when the needle was almost stationary all the way to the right, the sound did not break apart. The ultimate test for proper emulation. Also that was a great tip about saturating the fish-tails. For me it's the most difficult thing to tame while maintaining most of the initial drum clarity. Does it always have to be a compromise?

Frankly, it's just yet another exaggerated push to purchase, whatsmore it comes at an unrealistic, exaggerated price for the full thing, and there are other better sounding similar plugins. Dear plugin developers, get over yourself and get real: 1/ it's a tiny bit of code & programming, that btw only works within another, much bigger piece of code & programming, i.e. our DAWs 2/ price it accordingly, keeping point nr 1 well in mind at all times 3/ there are more than enough emulations of "classic analog gear" around in 2021 4/ some of those mentioned at point nr 3 are even free, or really accessibly priced. 🤨 (All of the above IMHO, of course)

I think the full price is unacceptable. I happened to buy the V Collection on sale at some point and because of it was able to grab the FX collection at a discounted sale of 99eur. At that price point I think the pack is fair. You might argue that you get a lot of plugin for your buck but do you really? Imo these are the worst of the worst imitations of the real deals I've come across and it doesn't sound like they put a lot of effort into making these. They went quantity over quality just like the V collection. Then why did I buy it? Because I decided to take them as what they sound like and after downloading the trial I felt I could use them for my projects but not for what they pretend to emulate. Wouldn't have spent more than 99 though. Wait for their sale and maybe grab it at 199 if you really want it.

Arturia plugins are much cheaper to get during sales and after that you can upgrade your collections in the next sales. I have never paid the full price and some new stuff is very cheap when I already have something else from them.

@Frank Lee Yes, that was my point. I don't think they are "proper emulations". They created fancy skins for it all that aren't even nicely optimized. 1 .png file per knob per knob position per plugin, are you kidding me? That's why they load so slow. And I own a few of the actual units or have heard them a lot. Maybe in isolation 18 dollars is a fair price for a plugin that kind of sounds like the real unit but really isn't but why would you multiply that by 22. If you'd really want a plugin that actually sounds very very close to the real one I'd say better spend more and only get that. The only value I see in them is to accept them for whatever they sound like and not for the goal of having 22 emulations. Same with the V collection synths. The synthesizers sound great imo but not quite as the real. The other instruments however sound like they sampled one note with a garbage mic and spread it across the board. B3 and Rhodes are literally unusable. I've heard better Rhodes sounds in stock Ableton Live. But yeah, that's just how I look at it.

@Frank Lee Lol that KZbin vid is ancient. I don't really pay attention to Serum and preset packs but they are probably not the only one, likely the most popular though because Serum is popular. EZ money of course, why not try it yourself, get better at sound design along the way :).

I can see from the vid that Arturia are an amazing company and have superb quality and really know how to capture a solid feeling for sound. Their MIDI Keyboards too I’ve seen look exceptional quality. I think it’s time to invest! The video was also really inspirational too Warren thank you so much as always! Love this series!
