My Sweetwater rep, Joel, is so thorough that he still follows up on gear that I purchased 3 years ago. He's so thorough that it's almost annoying. Nobody's customer service even comes close. With that being said, I'm a big advocate of the key lab 61 MKIII. Does It have the best key bed that I've ever had? Not by long shot but the plug n play integration with my DAW you would think it's a standalone. The ability to tweet the parameters without having to go to your laptop is a workflow game changer. I have standalone workstations, 88 hammer action boards where you might think that those would render this obsolete but it's become and essential component on my rig. The software that it comes with, That alone is worth asking price

Pretty amazing and it adds CV in/out/gate so not only can you control your MIDI hardware modules, but you can control a eurorack as well as taking input from a CV ribbon controller. That's really important for the Vangelis CS-80 / Bladerunner geeks.

Whats gonna be great is if you can store at least 10 VST sounds in the controller as you can play it as a standalone keyboard, basically for gigs using less comp power. Just a thought

I've got a black version of this controller and it's fabulous, but I wish that Arturia would bite the bullet and just add NI NKS compatibility so that you could easily access presets from the many NI and other manufacturer's NKS compatible plug ins.

Man I love your videos and I’m always waiting for the other one to come! I’ve learned so much from you and so I’m working on my home studio equipment development! I have a question for this, ¿does this midi keyboard has a way to assign several sounds by each octave? For live gigs for example
@archiebeatz2 жыл бұрын
What's up Clyde? I'm so happy to hear that I can help out brother. Honestly, there are so many features I'm chopping through right now, I'm learning something everyday. You can actually split instruments between VSTs and change the octave that way within the Analog Lab. I hope this helps and happy new year!

I think key controllers will be where they need to be when every fader and knob is motorized, and each preset stores all mapped controls and the motorized faders change based on preset. You can get away with digital encoders, but the faders need to be motorized, otherwise you change presets and all of your controls are off.

I have a Q. Do you know how the Arturia Keylab 61 MKII compares to the Essentials MK3?? The keybed in particular? I have the Essentials Mk3 but im not too happy with the keybed. It feels a bit plasticky. But perhaps thats how they all are.
@Talia.777 Жыл бұрын

Great video however I have to disagree with you at one point. You stated that arteria states all it needs is 4 gigs of RAM. With 4 gigs of RAM do not plan on using this keyboard. Four gigs of RAM will not run light and the arterio software without horrific lag and latencies. Do yourself a favor upgrade to at least at the minimum 8 gig of RAM I would do 16.

I’ve been looking for a good 61 key, i need weighted keys as i play piano and often make songs with piano in it but it is hard to find one with a good keybed because many feel cheap and plastic with synth action and to get expression playing piano the keys must be weighted. For orchestral it doesn’t matter as much as the modwheel often controls dynamics
@padibrown5162 жыл бұрын
The Keylab Essential 88 looks more tempting because of the price. As a super beginner would the extra features on the MKII be worth it? I want the 88 keys
@midthabeast12 жыл бұрын
The only difference is the number of keys every other function is exactly the same and if you go with the 49 or 61 you still can go up or down the scale at the push. Of a button so if you're thinking the 88 keys pack more options other than more keys it doesn't
@paegr2 жыл бұрын
Also, the Mk2 has much better feeling keys than the Essential, which will be super beneficial for learning

How does the keybed feel when playing piano and ep's? How does it compare to other high end MIDI controllers and synths? I want to use the Keylab in the studio and also when playing piano at live events. I was also looking at the Novation SL MK3 (which I've heard is one of the best), but the Keylab is cheaper and looks more durable to carry around in a cheaper case. The Novation would cost me at least another $300 to get (with a semi-hard shell case).
@anonymous_friend2 жыл бұрын
What did you find out? This is a tough thing to shop for without putting hands on it. I've heard the keys are shorter than normal, and have short keystrokes. Unless you find a weighted hammer action for piano sounds, I don't think it will be great to play on unless you are playing synths.

Are there only one set of pad banks? What I mean..Akai mpk261 has same amount of pads but has Bank A B C D for a total of 64 pads
@axoplanet60812 жыл бұрын
You can save another user-preset in the Arturia, where you can change the pad notes. So you can self made some more banks and switch them as user-presets with the big rotary knob. That is how I did it.

Hi, now that it has been a year more can this be a beginner piano that will be portable and allowed in economy class hand carry airlines specifically from saudi or canada to philippines ? What does this weigh? Does it alwo have a readily available carry case? Your mispronunciation of Buchla Easel made me laugh. Phonetically it is pronounced BOO-KLAR EEE-ZUL. (Hint: Watch an Arturia tutorial on the VST itself and you will hear the correct pronunciation.) I've been thinking about one of these for a while now. It looks like a quality product and right now they have a special offer which gets you some extra software VST goodies too, at least until the end of May I think.
