Arturia's Pigments 4 synthesizer plug-in is now at version 4. The instrument has been well received since its first release and is Arturia's first original software instrument. Version 4 adds a few new features but leaves the main instrument. If it ain't broken, why change too much?
Pigments remains a tasty and versatile instrument available as a free update to existing users, and currently on sale at €99 from €199 at time of posting.

There is a "bundle deal" for the new presets for registered users: 20 [insert currency here] as opposed to 10/individual. Personally, I think it's a fair trade since you are getting a version update for free and you will get a total of 450 additional presets. And the free plugin gives you a nice preview of FX Collection 4 =D

Hi Nick. First I watch the video without sound: just to see your facial expressions. Magic. I have used Pigments since it came out and created hundreds of patches from scratch. I even manage to sell some collections now. Its an absolutely fantastic synth. Like most, it cannot do everything but what it does, it does well.

Arturia has really hit it out of the Park with this Pigments soft synth. It comes with hundreds of presets and you can buy packs of themed presets as well. Whilst nothing is truly infinite, this thing comes pretty damn close. I love this thing to experiment with sounds and just have fun. Great for studio but I think Live performance could be more difficult. Cheers!! The Alabamie Kid

Bought Pigments way back when, it's amazing they just keep updating it for free. Just as good as Vital, Serum, Massive/Massive X, if not better and the presets are incredible. The interface just keeps getting better too

Hello Nick! Hey I want to thank you for producing this great video. I had recently bought a ton of Arturia stuff including the amazing KeyLab 61 mkII and V Collection 9, and few others. I thought I already had Pigments and just hadn't got around to trying it yet. After watching your video, I discovered I DIDN'T have it! I saw on several sites it available for $99 US, but thanks to other's comments here, I found Arturia had it this morning for just $49, PLUS for that price it came with the three sound banks: Cinematic, Neuro Bass, and Lo-fi, SO I GOT THEM ALL! Now I'm not sure if it's because I already bought it, or they changed the pricing, but I'm looking now, same day just in the evening (2022-12-25), and they don't have the $49 price anymore! Now it's $99 and looks like soon they will be upping it to $199.00 (but you still get the bundle with it)!!! Thanks again Nick and all, and to all a good night!

good demonstration of v4. A bit fast for my present know-haw, but that is my problem - hahahaha. I am intrigued by your wisdom and patches. I am super interested in taking sound from other hits and working to recreate them so that i can get a much better idea of sound design. The Pigments synth is massive capability.

Nice to see Nick! Very versatile soft synth. I'm wondering, have you by any chance measured the room? Thinking you may have a standing wave, or two, making the low end bloom a bit too much? I see the Iloud Precision 6.5 inch do extend to 37 Hz at -+4dB, and maybe a lot of low end disappears from the KZbin conversion - most often high frequencies affected more than low freq., but who knows … (Listening on calibrated Genelec 8351B)

I bought version 1 on sale for cheap when it first came out. I just loved it and use it all the time. But, the weird thing is it even better now with version 4, and they've given us the update for free. At this point I feel bad, and just want to send them $100. LOL, I'll just go to the website and buy something. Maybe that's their plan all along.

Love Camel audios Alchemy. I have it on an old Mac runing in and old version of Logic pro. I still use the HELL out of Alchemy for other world evolving drones and textures. I have few packs from Lufthrum and Big Tone installed in Alchemy...really good stuff.

Good and free update. Bought the Wavelengths packs. Pretty disappointed that they still advertise this as being NKS as it hasn’t been NKS since 2.5. 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 presets don’t exist in the Native Instruments ecosystem - which is annoying since I’m running an NI KK S61 controller. I know this is free for me since I own 3.0, but I’d be pretty annoyed to buy this full price and find I’ve been misled. Contacted Arturia “correct, Pigments is no longer NKS”. That was it. Questioning buying anything else by Arturia now regardless of the sound quality.

Hey Nick.. Maybe I missed it, but what about ARTURIA hitting you up for like $60 to get the WHOLE PIG 4.0 update? I successfully updated to 4.0, but--due to content I watched in some other PIG 4 video, I noticed I couldn't find the additional FOLDERS/BANKS of sounds or functionality. I logged in to my Arturia account, thinking that having done so the amount would return to ZERO. Nope...still $60. I wondered: what does one GET for the $60 ? Thanks.

trying to load my own samples into pigments and having trouble. when i go to import, the wavs i want to import are grayed out, even though pigments says it can use wavs in its sampler. any ideas on what's happening?

I am able to use wav files. A good way to load your own samples is, when you have the sample engine selected just drag and drop your sample from its file location onto one of the sample slots A,B,C,D,E or F.

I think these three compliment each other, even though there's a little overlap. Falcon is the strongest of all three, but that is offset by its potential complexity. Phase Plant is more on par with Pigments. But my thinking is that audio rate modulators are a better in Phase Plant. But Pigments IMO is better for pads and cinematic patch-building.

I've been looking to ad a wavetable synth to the setup I have. Currently use Dune 3 as my main AU/synth to build everything around ( I love it), and have a Prophet Rev 2, Novation Peak, & Roland Boutique JU-06. Is Pigments a good Wavetable synth? what is it most comparable to? Serum? Which is better? I'm looking to get some Waldorf Blofeld, Microwave , Q type sounds on a plugin, or as close to it as I can get.

Ryan, Dune 3.5 has an unmatched power, not Pigments which is a bit more subtle, the quality of Dune is almost untouchable, but both beasts make a unique pair!
