Something of a different kind of military fail you might find humorous... understand I'm old enough to be your grandfather, and society was changing fast in America when I was a teenager. We're talking 1969; I was in ROTC, preparing for Vietnam. Being mere ROTC, on exercises we were given leftover WWII and Korean combat rations. Rations back then included cigarettes and matches. When our parents found out we were smoking on the government's dime, they kicked up a huge fuss!

@@siege_militaryaesthetics Not really. Remember, my experiences were more than a half century ago- weapons, tactics, and society have changed so much. I entered ROTC in 1969, graduating in 1973. Meaning the difference between when I started and today is like the difference between when I started and WWI! Plus, I never spent a day in combat- in today's all volunteer Army (assuming you're US) there's a much greater chance of combat. The *ONLY* advice I can give is to know why you're volunteering, and stay true to your faith. If you're wanting to join, then I thank YOU.

The round ran the edges of his helmet, came back around, sliced his forehead open and knocked him out. His platoon was ordered forward (apparently they were assaulting a position) and he was left for dead since so much blood was pouring out of his helmet and there was a huge hole in it. When the grave ghouls came to tag and collect bodies he woke up and almost killed one of them as he was checking his body. True story.

Artur....another visual identification of a Russian tank is they have the bore evacuator/fume extractor (larger diameter tube on the barrel) closer to the muzzle of the main gun. On the tanks made by NATO nations it is either close to the midsection of the barrel or between the turret and midsection of the barrel. And the other tracked vehicle is what we call a self propelled gun, a howitzer type, not a mortar.

The tank that rounded the corner and slid until it turned over is actually from the annual tank games that Russia holds every year. In fact they just got done holding the 2021 games just this week. Several countries participate in these games, like China, Belarusian, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Venezuela. Basically any country that has T-90 tanks in their inventory. It was actually pretty fun to watch. But what I wonder, is if the Russians would let someone from the US compete using an M-60A3 Patton, the British using a Centurion, or the French using a AMX 13?

I managed to get ahold of one of the new Russian body armor, the 6b45 ballistic vest by technikom. This armor is brand new. I also have a slightly older generation American vest, the RBAV by BAE systems. The RBAV beats the 6b45 in almost every way. The soft armor of the RBAV is removable, so you can wash the carrier. The kevlar in the 6b45 is directly sewn in, and has no waterproof coating meaning the armor can degrade faster. The 6b45 has a quick release system like the RBAV, but it is crude and awkward by comparison. The cooling pads in the 6b45 don't work nearly as well as the mesh layer in the RBAV. In conclusion, while the new Russian armor and gear looks modern and up to date, it really isn't even comparable to older generation American gear.

Rolling a tank is lethal. They might be able to get you out but remember tanks have one entrance on top so if it’s flipped there’s no chance of quickly getting out. Also there’s a lot of heavy shit in a tank that goes flying at you and yourself goes flying when it flips. You’d be lucky to survive the flip at all. My grandfather was stationed on the Czech German border and he had a story of a guy flipping a tank on a small hill and that guy died and they screamed for hours it took 6 hours to bring the right equipment to flip it over. They tried using another tank initially but it was unable. Flipping a tanks not insignificant. Modern day tanks sometimes are designed with the centers being higher then the entrance so even if it flips the area around the entrance is clear from the ground.
