A little tip from an FR 8- owner: You can also load the weapon with a loading strip. There are "grooves" on the left and right side for this purpose.

It bears mentioning that the CETME also does not have a gas tube. That is also a cleaning kit.

I have an earlier FR7, small ring Mauser. Love the gun !!! One fact that should be addressed is that the FR7 was converted to 7.62x51, as mine is.

The FR-7 rifles were always intended to use the standard 7.62x51 NATO cartridge. The 7.62 CETME was never in production was only meant for the original CETMEs which were designed for the 7.92 CETME cartridge which used a very long aluminum bullet for full-auto fire at 1000 meters with the recoil of a mid-range load. The rifles were strengthened to handle the NATO load so the low pressure 7.62x51 was never in service.

Interesting rifle. Needs a turned down bolt handle and a detachable 10 round magazine that can be stripper clip fed, as on the SMLE, FN-49 and MAS-49/56.

Does the FR-8 take regular "commercial" .308 ammunition ?

4:10 does not have a hinged floorplate but it will accept a reproduction trench mag.

Wow really? I got one in 2018 with some ammo, bayonet, and a sling for $400 from a local guy.

Yep that's what their going for as of July 2022.... Just check G.B. prices they get bought right away because of the ease of buying ammo..
