Great video man! I've been searching far and wide for people doing electric longboard/scooter/bike trips. I would definitely recommend pads though, they've saved me more than once!

Thank you so much! I had two chargers and 3 to 5 batteries, depending on the state of the trip. Each battery was around 10km. More or less, depending on which mode i was in. I charged every day at lunch time in restaurants or wherever i got some food. With two chargers, I was able to charge 4 batteries at lunch time. That means roughly 4 batteries before lunch and 4 batteries after lunch. If i needed the battery to last super long, i went into pushing mode. It was nice to push every now and then, so i did that quite often. I was pushing to bring the board up to speed and it supported with the motor to keep the speed for a little while. I guess it's not easy to get back into longboarding. But if standing on a board still feels comfortable to you, maybe electric is an option :) But also dangerous, just like electric pushbikes.. Is there a electric skateboard that charges with a sort of dynamo when you push?

I don't think there is. The only thing i heard of is that electricity is generated when braking. And i think it would be way too difficult to push when having a dynamo on there as well. Nice idea though :)

What steps do you take to waterproof the bearings and board for rain and puddles?

None to be honest. For my previous trip i had spare bearings for rainy days but i noticed that it doesn't make much of a difference. For this electric longboard trip it kind of didn't matter. I would suggest to clean your bearings, if the got really wet on a trip and then relubricate them.

i swap the oil for marine bearing grease even for my fair weather boards, they last so much longer and hasn't made a measurable difference in range or effort

@@anotheryoutuber_ I just switched back to oil from Phil's roller bearing / marine grease, and it is noticeably faster. I used the grease for at least 150 miles (not at once) and I took it through many puddles and wet pavement, as well as sand and gravel without any issues. Now I carry the greased bearings as backup in case I get caught in heavy rain. But who knows if I will feel like swapping them out under my poncho when it's raining and I'm in a hurry to get back.

@@crookedtool prolly would take as long to swap as it might save in time running oil for the small difference in drag, bearings are a wear component but i have some bearings now since swapping to grease with nearing one thousand miles and my gps data doing training laps have not shown a significant difference, but run whatever puts more smiles per mile.

@@anotheryoutuber_ One thousand miles is impressive, but I'm not trying to save that kind of money. I haven't been caught in rain for a couple months now, so I do prefer the oil for being noticeably faster, even if it isn't measurable by your standards.

how did you go from Hamburg to Munich on an electric Longboard and not get fined or stopped? I did that once and got shafted by the Munich police

I don't know to be honest. We were actually planning with the fact that someone will stop me along the way. Not sure what would've happened. Probably a fine. But the board has a mode where you can push and the motor helps you to keep the speed. Every time i saw the police, i went in pushing mode so that it looks like it's not electric. But the amount of times that i was going on busy roads with cars (where pushing was not an option) was huge, and the police never saw me. Maybe i just got lucky.

i actually own a mellow board drive but i hate that they went in konkurs and they needed to close the company and everything, its even more bad for customers like me, i mean we paid a grand for the drive with everything or even more for those who have the deck an stuff and now we cant really use it....

That's so true! I would be super frustrated as well if i bought one myself. I just hope your drive will last a long time and won't break down. I personally hate that i never got a mellow for doing this trip 😄
