Aruba Instant 8.4 - New Web UI

Our friends at Aruba released ArubaOS 8.4 including Aruba Instant as an early Christmas present. What is new? I'll show you the brand new WebUI for Aruba Instant.

Hi Herman very good and explanation for the new GUI. What about the IAP 205 series AC Wave1 ? I have a cluster for the IAPs 305 and another for the 205 ones. Is there IAP 205 Series working in progress?

Unfortunately according to www.arubanetworks.com/support-services/end-of-life/#AccessPoints the AP-205 will not be updated for Aruba Instant beyond version 6.5.

Watch the space. There is a 30 minute video planned to be available on January 7, 2019 covering the new features with ArubaOS-Switch 16.08, downloadable user roles with ArubaOS 8.4 and ClearPass 6.7.8

Nice, but still IAP DUR are missing.

@@tehnikis I haven't tried yet, but the User Guide for Aruba Instant 8.4 mentions Downloadable User Roles (DUR) support. So the feature appears to be present.

It is there and it is configured in my lab. The problem is that it is not working and I cannot get the idea why. Also quite a lot of questions arise. For example - should we now define radius IP as FQDN? This just an example.@@hermanrobers

For the latest firmware, you will need a support contract to access it. Once the version is widely used, 8.4 (or 8.5) might over time show up either on the in-product update or on the Lifetime warranty page: support.arubanetworks.com/LifetimeWarrantySoftware/tabid/121/DMXModule/661/Default.aspx?EntryId=20374

@@hermanrobers Hi Herman, so just to clarify this, when you buy an Aruba product from a reseller, you are not entitled to latest firmware's? unless you purchase an support contract? i am new to Aruba equipment!

@@touaregboy5469 With Aruba Instant, you can use the in-product update to get to the 'stable software release', as well there is on support.arubanetworks.com under lifetime warranty some more firmware available. At a certain point in time the 8.4 or 8.5 release will appear there. If you want other releases like a specific version or the very latest, that is covered under software subscription.

@@hermanrobers Thanks for this reply it does clear it up for admins who are not familiar with Aruba Products. i have been considering some IAP 315 off the shelf and i was basing my purchase on version 8.4 and not the 8.3 GUI which feels like the old procurve GUI. many Thanks for the reply, will keep checking out the lifetime warranty area :)

New WebUI is not reporting nearly any data from the AP's

What data are you missing? Dashboard, then Access Points and select an AP from the list gives me quite some information.
