Arun Jaitley wrote to Narendra Modi, formally requesting to keep him off the New Modi Cabinet. Jaitley has cited health reasons behind his request.
Back in 70's Jaitley started his political career with student politics in ABVP. Jaiprakash Narayan picked him to head his National Committee for Students and Youth. Post Emergency, Jaitley joined the Jan Sangh. His law career prospered and he was appointed Solicitor General in VP Singh Government. After multitasking in various ministries in Vajpayee Government, Jaitley led the opposition charge as Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha (2009). After facilitating Modi's entry to Delhi's power circles, he became the Minister of several key portfolios in Modi's government (Defence & Finance). A Lutyens man, Jaitley has been BJP's key troubleshooters.
