I'm so glad this is back up on youtube. It got taken down some time ago but now it's back and I'm so happy. I think I've probably listened to this piece four dozen times and each time the solemnity and fragrance of its harmony never ceases to remind me of the Holy Spirit

Breathtakingly beautiful, reverential, sublime. I find it most fascinating how the melody and rhythm varies so accordingly with respect to what the lyrics are conveying. I still listen to it like I did the first time, definitely an all time fave. May God bless Pärt's soul for having composed works that glorify Him

Tonu Kaljuste is so completely inside this Praise... Poetry in magnificence in the highest order... Carthatic, electrifying, tonic, blessing, cosmic and near, unbound and ethereal....... A picture of limping humanity, by a mystifying grace, offering fruits to the King of Immensity and Compassion. God allows this, to stoop to His children and weep with them... until they laugh.

Arvo part is the best composer in the past 100 years , treat him as such

I love this te deum by maestro Arvo Part, it reminds me a lot of a Gregorian chant from the 1200s

This piece for me is highest musical expression of a mystical experience and the meaning of the text. I discovered the piece through these performers' CD back in 1993, and its impact has never diminished.

His music is always so beautifully ethereal! I hope everyone has heard of the recently reported research on the inborn musical aptitude of infants. At two days, infants react if there's a missing downbeat. And, as soon as they can control their muscles, they move in time to music. Music is truly our native language. Its universality is one of many reasons it was so important to the real Shakespeare, who was said to have a professional level of proficiency in music. And he used musical tropes more than any contemporary playwrights, with word play on both the literal meaning; as well as the technical musical meaning.

Beyond. It might be the most sublime piece of music ever written. And this performance was breathtaking. The soprano soloist. . . how can anyone sing so purely and lightly and sweetly? The ending brought me to tears after multiple, ecstatic goosebumps.

Hearing this the first time, I must say it is stunning how it can be so ultra modern and so immemorially archaic at the same time. That makes it something unique (or I have to listen to much more or Arvo Pärt) and transcendental.

Thanks very much for this! Great presentation. If I may suggest, add a minute of the applause at the end. I always like hearing the acknowledgement of the audience.

Lyrics in Latin and English: Te Deum laudamus, te Dominum confi temur. We praise thee, O God: we acknowledge thee to be the Lord. Te aeternum Patrem omnis terra veneratur. All the earth doth worship thee: the Father everlasting. Tibi omnes Angeli, tibi caeli et universae Potestates. To thee all Angels cry aloud: the Heavens, and all the Powers therein. Tibi Cherubim et Seraphim incessabili voce proclamant: To thee Cherubim and Seraphim: continually do cry, Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus Dominus Deus Sabaoth. Holy, Holy, Holy: Lord God of Sabaoth; Pleni sunt caeli et terra majestatis gloriae tuae. Heaven and earth are full of the Majesty: of thy Glory. Te gloriosus Apostolorum chorus, The glorious company of the Apostles: praise thee. te Prophetarum laudabilis numerus, The goodly fellowship of the Prophets: praise thee. te Martyrum candidatus laudat exercitus. The noble army of Martyrs: praise thee. Te per orbem terrarum sancta confi tetur Ecclesia. The holy Church throughout all the world: doth acknowledge thee; Patrem immensae majestatis; The Father: of an infinite Majesty; venerandum tuum verum et unicum Filium; Thine adorable, true: and only Son; Sanctum quoque Paraclitum Spiritum. Also the Holy Ghost: the Comforter. Tu rex gloriae, Christe. Thou art the King of Glory: O Christ. Tu Patris sempiternus es Filius. Thou art the everlasting Son: of the Father. Tu, ad liberandum suscepturus hominem, non horruisti Virginis uterum. When thou tookest upon thee to deliver man: thou didst not abhor the Virgin’s womb. Tu, devicto mortis aculeo, aperuisti credentibus regna caelorum. When thou hadst overcome the sharpness of death: thou didst open the Kingdom of Heaven to all believers. Tu ad dexteram Dei sedes, in gloria Patris. Thou sittest at the right hand of God: in the glory of the Father. Judex crederis esse venturus. We believe that thou shalt come: to be our Judge. Te ergo quaesumus, tuis famulis subveni, quos pretioso sanguine redemisti. We therefore pray thee, help thy servants: whom thou hast redeemed with thy precious blood. Aeterna fac cum Sanctis tuis in gloria numerari. Make them to be numbered with thy Saints: in glory everlasting. Salvum fac populum tuum, Domine, et benedic hereditati tuae. O Lord, save thy people: and bless thine heritage. Et rege eos, et extolle illos usque in aeternum. Govern them: and lift them up for ever. Per singulos dies benedicimus te; Day by day: we magnify thee; et laudamus nomen tuum in saeculum, et in saeculum saeculi. And we worship thy Name ever: world without end. Dignare, Domine, die isto sine peccato nos custodire. Vouchsafe, O Lord: to keep us this day without sin. Miserere nostri, Domine, miserere nostri. O Lord, have mercy upon us: have mercy upon us. Fiat misericordia tua, Domine, super nos, quemadmodum speravimus in te. O Lord, let thy mercy lighten upon us: as our trust is in thee. In te, Domine, speravi: non confundar in aeternum. O Lord, in thee have I trusted: let me never be confounded. Amen. Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus. Amen. Holy, Holy, Holy.
