Snapping options include "snap to edge" and "snap to face" (vertex and volume as well). Worth keeping these in mind. Creating a new transform space based on the face and snapping from there is also a valid solution.

so much talking for simple solution 😂

Another way to achieve a similar result would be to extend the top section down onto the cylinder using the face snaping mode This way, all the vertex would be on the same plane as the face of the cylinder thing So you just need to switch to vertex snaping and merge them together.
@BennXdesign3 күн бұрын
I didn’t know this would create a new vertex at the intersection. good to know, thanks.

u can also duplicate the bottom edge of the piece extruded down, and knife project it onto the other piece
@thomaschoinkowski7887 күн бұрын
@Aryan, at 3:25, instead of shift S, cursor to selected, scaling on X and Y axes, then select all and finally merge by distance and deselect all, which make 6 steps and requires mental effort to think on which axes we should scale , you can simply select the first vertex, then the second one (which is in the correct place) and hit M, L (merge -> at Last). Far simpler imho

you can do this with GG + ALT it will fallow the normal and snap to vertices
@kirkorofich6 күн бұрын
instead of all this, you can use knife project or use shrinkwrap + datatransfer ( for automatic shading)
@senjiryakketsu3 күн бұрын
this is also a good way to do that and lots of people dont know about that tool but there is a easier way to do it. just subdivide the edge and create another vertex there then slide the vertex while vertex snap turned on then while you snapping just put your curser on the vertex that you need to arrange with. If vertex that you sliding is acting weird then you should put your cursor (mouse cursor btw) close to the vertex that you want to arrange/snap before you start to slide.
@jellygrass7773 күн бұрын
Another way is select the long edge of the inset, GGC with snap to vertex activated and snap to the vertex above.

To me, the two far more easy tricks are to use Bool Tool to cut into the lower faces. that be very quick and very accurate. Or use merge points, connecting the outer lower points to the ones up top. Then just move them down.

Turn on Face snapping. GG to slide each edge to the same position as the face. Use GG CTRL to slide and snap to the face (quicker). Takes about 30 seconds if that to do all. Then you can bridge or whatever.
@MonsterJuiced2 күн бұрын
It does, but then using this method in the video literally takes you 5 seconds.

@HesamVazifehdan7 күн бұрын
It doesn’t seem like this is too much of a hassle in 3DS Max. I tried to replicate this and everything worked fine by using constraints set to edge mode, I could easily move the edges on the angular face without deforming them. Then I used bridge and the connection seems to be perfectly straight and have the same width. Am I missing something guys?
@Mix3Design7 күн бұрын
Or you can try to duplicate that shape you extruded and separate it to its own object , and then use knife project to project this shape to that small cylinder. I believe that will work
@brunoosti17 күн бұрын
You can extend everything to it's planes than use the knife intersection boolean under the face menu. It cuts from selected to unselected. No need to project from any view : )
