As An Xbox Fan, Their Current State Makes Me SAD

It's safe to say that Xbox is finding itself in a rock and a hard place, with the constant stream of bad decisions with the most recent incident being the closure of Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin. It's disheartening to see a brand that was once a pioneer of innovation getting devolved to a point where it's existence in the foreseeable future is looking questionable to say the least.
It's clear that Xbox has a very visible gap in what it wishes to be and what it's becoming by virtue of its poor decisions. What's more baffling is that the company already has a great infrastructure and resources to turn its wheels around, but it just refuses to put in the required effort to make things right after all this time.

Xbox killed Xbox by not knowing how to grow talent and interesting and quality IP. PlayStation has fumbled this gen, but prior to recent years their studios were able to make new games with each generation and it allowed them to stay fresh, interesting, and learn lessons to translate to new ideas. Xbox just bet on Halo, Gears, and Forza year after year.

One thing they can't seem to do is re-energise their franchises. You play Halo Infinite and it's like playing any other Halo game. Gears 5 is like any other Gears game. Some of these needed reinventing and freshening up. I point to God of War, which completely changed it's playstyle, setting and main character arc. And allowing 343 to continue with Halo has been the most baffling thing. I've always been a Playstation gamer primarily, but I still had the original Xbox and 360, because Halo and Gears were just incredible. There's no reason for me to even consider an Xbox since the 360 days.

The Kinect blunder was bad, but explainable - just like Sony with their shitty Move controllers, they thought that motion controls were what people wanted now - thank Nintendo for that. This video captures my thoughts pretty well. To this day I don't understand Microsoft's "strategy", but I believe that people like Phil Spencer are largely to blame for the current situation. The leadership at Microsoft didn't understand how the market works. The paradox is: They did exactly the right thing with the first consoles to become a competitor to Sony. Things went downhill with the Xbox One. Today we have a console that is slowed down by its own sister, multi-platform titles that are poorly optimized and a lack of exclusives (which are the main argument for a console). If Microsoft doesn't do a 180° turn, that's it in the console market. I myself am thinking about selling my Series X and buying a PS5 Pro. I was a Xbox fan from the very beginning. Sad.

The people that made this video haven’t a clue what they are on about. 120 million game pass subscribers and watch the tears to follow when cod is on day 1 release on games pass. I think the consensus from various insiders that Xbox buying Activsion Blizzard and overspending on studio acquisitions forced Microsoft's hand into aggressive cost cutting led to complications and problems. Especially when that cost cutting forced them to kill off studios that could've helped build worthwhile IPs and potential exclusive franchises down the road. Gamepass also reached market saturation so gettting newer people into it wasn't feasible it seems.

Phil Spencer destroyed Xbox. Dumping all their exclusives on PC (so they no longer had any) and giving their biggest titles away for a low monthly fee day one on Game Pass was spectacularly stupid, even for him. I think I'm in the minority that I dont really care about gamepass ultimate, or the small little games like hi-fi rush that Microsoft putters out... What I value about xbox is the console itself, the series X, I like the UI, the controller... I like how you can put an OG xbox disc and itll play it if its in the list of retro compat games... I like xboxs older titles predominantly like the gears games and the Master Chief collection that you can still hop on and find a ton of people playing. The few things that I love about microsoft today is enough for me to actually overlook sony's amazing recent exclusives because I know that if i play and finish them, ill be going straight back to playing on my xbox.

Gamers supported the failing business model of developers by supporting unfinished games and games they don't own outright. Always online games narrow a games consumer uptake by limiting purchases to only those who have a reliable internet connection. But all you hear are crybabies whining about how the industry is failing and what characters "look" like. Like all industries gaming will evolve. Now is the time to help steer it in the right direction by speaking with your wallets. Demand better and the industry will have to listen. We will all win.

How the fuck are they going to make sales figures? Especially when they are offering day one 1st party games on Game Pass Ultimate. As for making something of quality to translate into good review scores. Why would a studio put their all into a game when they know that they won't be getting full value out of their game/s? I don't feel sorry for Xbox whatsoever because a company shouldn't be trying to win by flexing their cash around. I'm fine with buying individual studios but 2 entire parent companies. It also doesn't matter if they sell Series X consoles because they take a loss on each console sale. They make very little on each Series S console sale but why buy a console that is limited to digital only, smaller hard drive and lacking in power.

In addition to that , they will datamine new accounts for a phone number. I created an account for my nephew, he played 2 hours of games. Next sign in it says suspicious activity (how they determine regular activity off of 3 hours of playing makes no sense) so they need to verify a phone number. They’ve proven they can barely function as a company , I’ve seen more outages than ever before last 2 months, now these pricks are demanding phone numbers. Microsoft rewards got the same shit for any purchase with points. To top off insult to injury , they gave and upheld a 60 day suspension for a typo!!! Can we get NHL on the damn switch so I never have to turn on my POS Xbox again ??? Please !!!!!

The AAA game indistry is crashing. It happened in 1983 due to greed and poor quality games, and it's happening again due to greed and poor quality games. Everyone is pointing the finger at Xbox, but Sony aren't doing as great as they once were either. They do, however, seem to be making better decisions than Xbox. Xbox will fix their problems if they make good games that people actually want to play, but at the moment most of their output is decidedly average, maybe even below average. Forza Motorsport... poor. Redfall... poor. Starfield... poor. Halo Inifite... poor. They're going to go the way Sega went if they don't get their act together.

Why is tango and arkane closing baffling? Their leadership and talent left before redfall and hi fi. Why woud they keep the studios open if they were a shell of their former selves? Should they keep them for their studio name? I guess journalism is dead... A bunch of " i guess" and " might not be". 1 second of research and you'll see game pass is profitable, xbox profit margins are even slightly higher than playstation. And xbox has as much monthly users as playstation, more when they count ABK...but i know you guys will discount that...even though destiny players on all platforms are counted in playatation monthly users.

Ill admit Ive been a Xbox fan since early 360 but Xbox died 2013. I do have a Series X but Im finally going to be going to PC. Xbox had great potential but with all the woke bs thats been happening with gaming. Thats the nail in the coffin for me. My Xbox is just going to be a device when i feel like playing my old games like i do with my PS2

According to Sarah Bond everything is ok because they're gonna have a mobile game store and candy crush and also Minecraft will save xbox and everything will be alright. They did well to shut the hifi rush studio because the game would not run on a phone. In all seriousness this is what you get when you put people who only see numbers in front of a brand that is supposed to craft art in form of videogames, but these suits don't want art, they want products, and when you look at videogames as a product and not as an art form this is the only outcome you'll get.
