Ingredients
Chana dal handful
Water 1 cup
Cover & cook
Yam ¼ kg
If you touch yam with your hand, it will itch.So keep minimal contact.
Cut into square pieces
Wash well and add to dal.
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Cover & cook
Ash gourd ½ kg
Cut into square pieces (medium )
Add ash gourd pieces &
Chilli powder 1½ tsp
to Half cooked yam.
Cover & cook
Add jaggery 1 tbsp. &
Salt 1 tsp
to Almost cooked curry
Coconut 2 hand full
Jeera 1 tsp
Pepper 1 tsp
Give it a pulse
Take out ¾ th of it and keep aside.
Add some water to the rest and grind smoothly
Add to curry
Boil till all the water evaporates
Coconut oil 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds
Red chilli
Curry leaves
Add Crushed coconut
Saute till golden brown
Add cooked curry
Tips
Add only sufficient water while cooking. Do not over cook. Don't mash it.
If you are adding water in between while cooking add only hot water.
Be careful when cutting yams as your hands may start iching.
