I’m not Christian but I liked this band from the start because they had inspirational and uplifting lyrics, I’m not into the whole gore, su!c!de, killing women edgy image that a lot of metal/metalcore Bands try to go for. 8th grade me who had just got put on adderall, played this song every morning on my mp3 player for the entirety of 2008. First song to really get me into metal and sooooo many teen memories attached to this band, killswitch, and whitechapel. Time flies man. I'll never forget when this song played on MTV back when it came out...I had finally found the metal I knew I wanted but didn't know existed and still listen to AILD to this day. Had Tim not done what he did they'd be opening for much bigger bands than they ever did and headlining massive tours. Such a bummer but I still go to their shows whenever they come to town regardless.

this was the first song I heard by as i lay dying I was just 14. I checked them out on myspace and bought their next record an ocean between us and been a big fan since then. They were the first metal band that got me into metalcore in high school. I just saw them a few weeks ago with whitechapel, brand of sacrifice and shadow of intent. It's true 2000s metalcore which was its own thing. True OG metalcore is stuff like Earth Crisis, Hatebreed and All Out War. It's a very different sound than the 2000s bands. Still very good just to be clear lol
