@Leosklein1932 жыл бұрын
This probably won't make it to the one who wrote this song. But it's 12 years after it's release and I still listen too it. The original meaning behind this song is incredible. However I took it in a different light. My brother, a man of many evil deeds and who is behind bars for life for 2 counts of sexual assault towards a minor ruined everything about my childhood. Everywhere we moved too it was always the same story from teachers, from other kids, from other parents, from other people in general. "Oh, you're related to him". After that I'd get treated as though I was an outcast, a huge piece of shit in general when I've done nothing wrong my whole life. I just took it... I stayed in the shadow of a villain for many a year growing up. Upon this songs release where days when he would beat me senseless just because I existed. He was a few years older then me and had already been too juvi a few times so he was bigger and I was his punching bag. But this song honestly helped me emotionally through all of it. We are not the same as I hope to show. There is a better way, just let go. For a long time I lived by that.. and it's a simple string of words but too me, they heald more power than any other song I have ever listened too. I no longer have too as life has finally brought me to a place I want too be. I love each and every one of you for this, as I'm still here. A proud USMC vet. A proud husband who found love in the strangest of places and bless my wife for all her love and support. Don't ever stop doing what you do and keep the jam alive. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

I love your story of your bravery and perseverance. You’re tough as nails man. I’m legitimately crying after reading this. AILD really knows how to pull on your heartstrings. Metalcore in general is a catharsis for a lot of people. Killswitch’s Arms of Sorrow helped me cope and control my Asperger’s syndrome and helped me get off meds. I hope more people hear your story. God bless you, brother and thank you for your service. Hooah! 💪⚔️🇺🇸🔥

People keep telling me this isn't music.. That there's no quality to this music.. You fucking tell me why several people playing intricate music, drummer beating drums 5 times a second, singers singing with all the passion he can, and guitarists playing complexity with their fingers, isn't fucking music... These people don't even listen to the lyrics, or take into consideration the amount of effort and technicality that goes into Metal.. No music can make me cry like Metal, it's so passionate and expressive. As someone who's shy and afraid to use his voice, it makes this kind of music so much more powerful. It's music, not only music, but fucking amazing music. Please come back AILD..

People forget how good this album was following up their number 1 all time. 2005-10 was AILD’s golden age. Josh Gilbert couldn’t have been a better successor to Clint Norris. The transition from the bands originally sound of massive volume changes and choruses that would be sung from once (94 hours) to up to five or six times and his contrast of a consistent note pattern and volume to Josh’s more traditional three chorus formula that required some more inflections in the clean singing… man. The transition they made was a masterpiece.

Hate to be that old "in my day" guy but so much of contemporary metalcore is so fucking repetitive & samey. If you put on those videos of ppl (fans or non fans) reacting to contemporary metalcore bands, like 7 out of 10 of the bands/songs will be doing the same riff patterns and the same kinda breakdowns, and the only time you get something "unique" is when the singer launches into some radio rock or R&B/pop style clean vocal section that could fit comfortably alongside a Drake feature--or worse, more mainstream stuff where suddenly you're in the middle of the most basic Linkin Park ripoff except it's set to a trap beat. It's not just that I'm getting older and "dont get it"--I get it perfectly well, I'm more open to more styles the older I get--it's that so much of it is not actually unique or original; people are repeating what they hear without adding anything actually new to it, and often when they add something to it they're drawing from outside of rock/metal, and not from heavier or more challening genres but straight from the billboard top 10. Props to the young metal musicians today who are going deeper into old school hardcore or death metal, who are adding symphonic or progressive or black metal or groove metal elements, who are pushing the extremes of vocal performances and technical drumming & riffing, who are creating their own sound within such a creatively stifled environment where all the kids just wanna hear "djent" or "the heaviest" or the most breakdowns, or the only time they want a melody is when its sung like an autotuned pop singer, or a white guy starts rapping over the laziest trap beat ever made--bc that shit is not the future of metal music, it's stagnation.

Those who study music and lyrics as a whole know the secrets of the art... Lyrics are phisical and emotional reflections of life written in words... lifes emotional form is a spectrum between love and hate and the consequences and reaction to those emotions... this is called spiritual life... music is a reflection of someones inner self... so if this is soooo terible to listen to... let me ask you one thing... is the artist depicting a negitive experiance... yes... why? because the artist sees a world that is unjust and is in anguish because it is so... there should be no shame to this anguish exept that we must learn from our mistakes of hurting one another... metalcore as a whole is a symbol of insinuation that love is all we need in life.... pop music is a symbol of indulging in life without a care of what your actions do to those around you... metalcore is the good guys because in reality its really hard core folk music that teaches us lessons... pop music just dumbs us down with the most evil word on the plannet... fun... count how many times the word fun has fucked up your life... maybe life should be taken a little more seriously... recreation is not evil... fun is...

Maybe you need to examine your definition of fun. Maybe it is what you used to call fun,wasn't fun at all. I guess I relate to what you are saying. I am 53 now, and old man, but back in my youth I was wilder and of course I made mistakes, stepped on peoples toes, did some thoughtless shit, and ended up regretting it. The school of hard knocks. But hey, can't dwell on what I did. All we need to do is look at those situations honestly, try to figure out our part in it and what we could have done to prevent it.. You see I can still have fun, it just has a different meaning.

couldnt agree more about what distinguishes our music from pop, the vast majority of them are idiots while the smartest people I know are metalheads because metal is the most complex genre of music, making it the thinkers music. Hands down most metal genres especially metalcore and post hardcore boast some of in my opinion the best lyricists ever. its refreshing to hear from someone with such a heightened level of comprehension in regards to whats entering their ears. we are kindred spirits my friend...

you have to agree these guys are one of the few metal bands that consistently give good music. Everytime they come up with a new song it turns out to be amazing. Man they deserve the top spot and a hell lot more attention.

The "Parallels" lyrics are mood, temper, and state of mind, yet delivers a inducing feelings of mood of music's eagerness.
