there really isnt anything wrong with uing tabs. been playing for four years and though i have an above average knack learning by ear, some things i just canot grasp. like phrasing mostly. tabs help out so much. most things i can learn by ear having no experience with a scale or a mode and some things yes tabs are useful for but one thing is for damn sure.......this solo is gorgeous cnstruction wise!
