Strong deductive reasoning, although I could see myself justifying the sunglasses just to prove that knowing what your talking about is badass. Especially if I could pull it off as well as this guy does. Also, he also likely memorizes at least some lines where there is too great a distance between subject and camera for most teleprompters to work. if it's just flashing 1-3 words, that can be hard to sound natural like he does. Those are the ones that work from a great enough distance for that exterior downward yaw shot for instance. Important to note, while at times he looks off frame, there are significant periods where he does not. While I did not have the best lighting conditions, I looked for a sideways reflection of a teleprompter and saw none. Some teleprompters are fairly low light though, and hiding it in the shadow may have been sufficient.

The best review of a car you can get comes from an honest mechanic. Salesmen wouldn't tell the truth and car reviewers usually look at new cars or quirky cars, but they don't consider the long-term ownership. For those of us who prefer buying a car once a decade (or less), we want to have some confidence that it won't become an expensive basket case within that time. I'd rather, in fact, be able to sell or give away a car with a lot of life left in it - so the next owner doesn't get burned on it. I would feel bad selling a car that's near the end of life on a $20K component. (Even $5k is outside a lot of people's means.)

Did you have coolant leakage, or what was the failure problem with yours? I have a feeling the fluid (atf & coolant) might need to be changed at a schedule of more like 15-20k miles instead of 50k. I'm looking forward to seeing battery pack repair options as the growing number of Teslas on the road begin to age. Battery repair is going to be crucial for the used EV market to be sustainable.
@teropiispala25763 жыл бұрын
If there are just a failure in electric cirquit or few damaged cells, the battery can be repaired. That is not going to be very common. Typically cells age evenly especially when temperature management is good. The daisy chain failure which was mentioned in the video means that practically all cells have aged into level where they can't operate properly. When used right, a pack can withstand a lots of miles especially if they are driven over short period of time. If the car is closing 20 year age, it becomes more important what have been average charge level or temperature during the storage. Batteries like to be in 50% charge level and stored in a cool place. Hot is generally bad since it accelerates unwanted chemical reactions.

As an automation engineer I found this video informative, accurate, unbiased, and well presented. I agree with the conclusions and see a market for cell repairs to keep these EVs in operation for the next generation of owners in the lower economic bracket, who undoubtedly will constitute the largest portion of owners in the coming years. With regard to release of the first Tesla roadsters it is essential they were released early as this expedites engineering quality loop feedback and accelerated improvement. In theory, no car or product is perfect when first to market, however Tesla has implemented firmware as you stated and improvements can now be made "on the fly". Good video. I believe Tesla battery packs will only become more difficult to repair in the newer models. Like Apple has done with its batteries, Tesla is moving toward tighter integration of the battery with the rest of the vehicle in order to improve range and reduce initial cost, with repairability sacrificed in the process. I foresee many of these packs ending up being shipped to third world countries where 12 year old boys will pick through them and harvest the recyclable materials. Not good.

It depends what angle they want to play. I think their main goal is to reduce defective cells in the first place rather than needing a battery replacement. Well, the fact you're in the PHX area makes the long term issue decision for me much better down the road (to coin a phrase). Nice!

I wish they would do another production run of the Tesla Lotus, would love that little thing.

Rumor has it there is a Roadster II in the works, so you may get your wish. Timetable TBD of course.
@maxnovakovics25683 жыл бұрын
@@joedilellio3627 do you mean the upcoming supercar version with the spacex thrusters and electro magnetic windshield washers? Cause I was thinking something with like a 5 digit price tag.
@grubermotorcompany3 жыл бұрын
@@maxnovakovics2568 The next gen Roadster will have no Lotus in the DNA anywhere. Lotus actually has their own EV supercar coming out - Evija, at over $2M compared to the 250K new Roadster which is a 100% Tesla creation.

I remember a coworker with the lotus body Tesla and knew it would take off. New cars are great but curious about the cost of repair which may not be worth it. Great informative video.

Very interesting, and thanks. My low mileage UK Roadster has never had a PEM clean, but has been serviced by Tesla a few times, so hopefully they at least clean out all the forced air system. Roll on having a facility like yours in the UK or the EU.
