Great scene. Nancy could weigh in without hysterics.

These were the years when you didn't fail to catch every Monday to Friday show, couldn't wait for weekends to be done so you could see more, and never failed to make sure the VCR was set properly. (And woe to any household member who touched it.) Soaps were never better when they consistently remembered that multi-generational storylines were the fail-safe means of keeping a loyal audience, and World kept me from teenhood to the my 40s. It's missed.

Right. We had two VCRs. One taped ABC and the other taped CBS.

I have to say I know what happened to our serials though. The networks were so desperate to have that 18 year old viewer that they basically filled all the shows with teenage characters who only live for 2 things: l) looking hot, and 2) who to sleep with next. The shows LOST that multi generational feel to them thinking it would attract too many older viewers (losing ad revenue) and alas they destroyed these masterpieces to gain a few more bucks. So sad...

Great nod to history on this scene recalling Jennifer Kim's sister and Bobs ex wife

That was definitely one of the show's strengths, it built upon its roots!

OMG, it's like you're me. When did you watch? I stumbled across this show when I started college in 1978 (18 years old) and watched it religiously to very late 1999 (39). I too set the vcr and god forbid anything happen. The show lost me around 2000 when it became the "Simon, Katy, Henry, Carly and Jack" hour. For me it just "got rid" of too much of that incredible history and the show just wasn't "the show" anymore. I sampled off and on to the end in 2010, but for me it NEVER was the same.

Love the Bob and Kim story line....do you have any videos from the 1985-86 years?

Back when Y&R knew how to use history. Great stuff.
