I think his voice was the most beautiful male singer I have ever heard. He was a treasure, and incredible talent.

OMG! I'm crying again. I have been listening to Harry all day. I wish he were here to enjoy the way he still touches people. Yes his voice is awesome but his writing was even more awesome. Obviously, he didn't write this one but what he DID write. WOW! He never held back. He told so much about himself through his lyrics and his music. But nobody listened. If they did, he might still be here today.

Rob Wade, What really angers me is that Harry was snubbed by Rolling Stones Magazine and left off their list of 100 greatest singers of all time. There is a great documentary on Net Flix about Harry with song clips and glowing testimonials from other sings who knew and loved him. Definitely worth the watching.

from what little I know about Harry, he didn't believe how good he was. Even having people tell him, he still didn't believe. I mean he hung with Lennon and the Beatles and I believe played with them occasionally but still he doubted himself. I am sure the drugs and alcohol had a adverse effect on his psyche, but who knows if they unleashed his musical genius. When he died, Ringo said he was more devastated by Harrys death then he was by Johns. Just imagine the music they are making...

Gordon Jenkins has arranged so many of my favourite songs, without my realizing it. When I was a kid, my mom used to play "September of my Years" by Sinatra, and when I was lucky enough to find an lp (it had been long out of print) of it, again he was the arranger. ♫ I love those lush swirling string settings. He's brilliant.
@McGarVision8 жыл бұрын
Gordon always said that Harry outshone Sinatra in comparing the work he did with both. Keep in mind this was a wildly controversial move for a rock star to do in the 70's and RCA hated it. Harry blazed the trail of a rocker performing "standards," that dozens would later follow--Ronstadt, Rod Stewart, etc. etc..."This is All I Ask" is a stunning and beautiful masterpiece by Harry from these sessions worth seeking out. ....Cuthbert
@emmceeee8 жыл бұрын
Cuthbert J. Twillie That's some interesting perspective. I hadn't known it was so maverick of him to do so at the time. I was still a kid, and not buying music yet. But, the *trail* he blazed has become a little too well trod of late. It's more like a *canyon* now! Cheers!

The song was the last track on his album 'A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night'... In 1959 Johnny Nash covered it; his version peaked at #43 on the Top 100... R.I.P. In art school it was repeatedly mentioned that an artist is more famous dead than alive; but, Harry Nilsson so influenced and invested in me that I can't help to say how much he helped while he lived with his songs and well being. Anyone can say this of anyone; but this he was to me. All of us like a mosaic of lives interwoven in mutuality.
What a treat! I do miss ol' Harry, and it was also pretty nice to see Gordon Jenkins at work. (He arranged all the songs on the record, and wrote one of them as well.)

You must remember this A kiss is still a kiss, A sigh is just a sigh The fundamental things apply As time goes by And when two lovers woo They still say, "I love you" On that you can rely No matter what the future brings As time goes by Moonlight and love songs Never out of date Hearts full of passion Jealousy and hate Woman needs man And man must have his mate That no one can deny Well, it's still the same old story A fight for love and glory A case of do or die The world will always welcome lovers As time goes by
