Once Jota returns & feels the love from the fans he'll be flying he needs to feel wanted again to get the best out of him.

10000% agree. Really hope this is the case. As we either A - Get a LETHAL player with massive loyalty to the club and is future captain quality or B - We make a tidy profit on him again and say farewell after reviving the career of a great player. Win win

His departure is tinged with sadness but he goes with our best wishes. 3.5 great seasons the wee man gave everything when he was on the field and will be remembered as the best striker since Larsson in many eyes.

Still can't quite accept the wee man's departure probably because of the poor timing. I don't think we have been told the full story. It's not that long ago he extended his contract only to want away the following year? And to a downgrade club like Rennes?Sounds like he was pretty desperate to leave all of a sudden. Whatever, wish the wee man well he was a breath of fresh air for us and will be badly missed for so many reasons.

I wonder how close the Japanese boys were/are. In the context of will kyogo leaving be a downer for them. But you can’t assume they were all best mates and maybe they are each closer to other players. Who knows. And of course they are adults so ultimately it’ll be fine in that regard. And we definitely have to accept that, even if we were the richest club, we play in this poor league, with most days equally poor weather. Most people will naturally want something else reasonably quickly, assuming they have options. They have wives and children whose wants and preferences take precedence. And rightly so. (Not necessarily kyogos situation. I dunno) it’s not just a player playing football. It’s a family building a life. The 2-3 season rule is very real. I don’t make heroes. I don’t get upset when they leave, regardless of timing. They are human beings not prisoners. I don’t hate on them when they leave like many of our fans do. And that’s an appalling growing trend. Served us well. Won us trophies. Made us money. I hope he smashes it for the rest of his career. People losing their minds when a 3 season man leaves won’t bat an eyelid when Jamesy calls time. We do this all wrong.

There are clearly other factors at play with Kyogo's departure and we may never know what those are. I hope it's not serious or sinister and that he has left on the best of terms. Maybe he just needs a better climate and has family and other personal reasons. Perhaps it's the lack of caps? Who knows? What a terrific player though. He will always be loved here. Definitely a legend if not the same stature as greats like Jinky & Henrik ... We must give him a proper send-off. I hope it can be arranged. 😢

Kyogo is a sad loss, not only for his ability but his infectious character, the kids love him. He is a hoops legend. He needs to make his own challenges, he is 30 yrs old and the deal will work in our favor. I felt bad for Jota leaving and maybe misguided, probably by his agent. Everyone deserves a second chance and I am sure he is very excited. If we get Tierney and another striker I'll be happy with that. The way it works out with a swap and some cash and a loan we can push all funds towards a striker. We could look for another right wing youth now or in summer, hopefully Forest will be fit soon, but he won't be around forever either and we have no real good options there otherwise. Hopefully Jota gets a start against Villa. If our game goes ahead tomorrow then Idah starts and the pressure is on him to give a good showing.

I remember the big storm back in January 1968. I lay awake all night listening to 100 mile per hour winds battering against our single paned bedroom windows. All the time in fear of a roof slate smashing through the window into my bedroom. The morning after, there were neighbors huts rolling about in the street. Chimneys smashed on the ground everywhere. That was the longest school day of my life having not slept a wink the previous night.
@neildmedia9 күн бұрын
I remember it well. It felt like our tenement was moving. We were on the top, third floor. It happened mainly during the night and most died when chimney stacks fell through the roofs onto people below in bed.

I’m a wee bit indifferent about the whole Kyogo transfer saga if I’m honest. When Ange left and Brendan returned he definitely did not acclimatise to the change in approach and no matter what Brendan says there was a definite shift from Angeball to his approach. The smile we had seen from the wee man all through the Ange era was now gone and replaced with a slightly furrowed brow and perhaps even a hint of being actually fed up with this new approach. The goals dried up a bit and he wasn’t looking quite as clinical with many including myself pointing to the change in supply to him forcing him to drop deeper and deeper just to get involved in games. His goal average fell off a cliff from the previous Season with just 14 goals in 34 league games and 17 overall for the Season. Then came the news he had changed Agents and well for me anyway that was a sure sign he was definitely for the off. This Season he’s been a bit brighter but nowhere near his _A game_ and I started to think perhaps at 30 we might actually have seen the best of him and now he might be on the slide. The National coach also getting involved ( in regards the quality of the game in Scotland) never helped in this regard as I think that probably put the rubber stamp on him wanting the move. So it comes as no shock and although I’m sad to see him go and it end the way it has it hasn’t really bothered me that much. Put it this way I was far more upset when Brian McClair left Celtic on the cheap to Man United who had cunningly played the Transfer Valuation game with Celtic and the Transfer Tribunal. We were robbed of a player by United who like Kyogo knew where the net was and with a similar return rate. Although unlike Kyogo managed to surpass the 40 goal in a Season mark . Only Larsson and Griffiths have achieved 😊it since . Ultimately the loss of McClair hit me much harder than the loss of Kyogo but I suppose that comes down to maturity etc and having seen them come and go only to be replaced by the next hero. Don’t be sad he’s gone just be glad he came. Good luck wee man. Thanks for the memories. 🤜🏼🍀🤛🏼
@tommyhughes4958 күн бұрын
Well said. Agree 100pc. Good comment. Felt the same about McClair. And Macari, and Dalglish and more,(inc George Connolly, diff circumstances I know,but the loss still felt the same).Our hero's come and go,but the club is still here. Hopefully we see many more.
@brownwarrior68678 күн бұрын
Totally Tam 👍🏼 Dalglish was my hero as a kid losing him was a big blow to me and my brothers but as you say we’ve seen quality come in in the years that have passed. Nothing last forever and in Football even moreso especially in the modern game. I believe with the right service big Idah will come good but look forward to Kyogos replacement with great hope and anticipation. HH

Best of luck for the wee man..what I can't understand is why after his love affair with Celtic and the fans he couldn't wait another 7 day's to play in a game that could mean so much going forward for Celtic then go after the Villa game..more importantly for the player it would give the away Celtic fans a chance to give him a send off he deserves..on a personal note l,m also amazed the wee man has went to a team who are going to be in a relegation fight.

I really like Idah and feel he is given way too much grief by some, but the idea of dropping the player who scored more goals for Celtic than anyone in 2024 in Maeda for a guy in Jota who has barely played in 18+ months and left at the first chance he could seems a bit rough to me. Maeda not being in the team is unthinkable to me.
@hometownglory602510 күн бұрын
Jota starts on the bench currently. He needs to work his way back up passed Palma, Yang and Jamesey (which I think he will) nevermind Maeda and Khun. There is no room for sentimentality here. If he's good enough he has to prove it and earn that starting jersey.

@gerryd96109 күн бұрын
The agency only makes decent money if he moves. But who started the move? Kyogo or the agent?
@smcl84199 күн бұрын
Is this expert agents at work. Will he move on from Rennes in the summer ? This looks like he maybe wanted a move , and we have pushed him out the door to get Jota . Cant see why we didnt wait until the summer to sell him. He scores regularly in the CL , and more goals in it would surely mean a bigger value in the summer ? Cant think of another team anywhere that would sell their top striker in january when they are still competing in the league , cup and Champions League.
@Michael1984110 күн бұрын
Brendan has stated Kyogo wanted to leave. You cannot keep a player in that scenario. Looks like a straight swap deal although Jota will be more expensive in terms of wages. We currently have one striker and need a top quality player in.

Also, Kyogo leaves with everyone's best wishes mid-season when he's our first choice striker and could disrupt our remaining season - but Rodgers was a traitorous rat when he left mid-season? I can't compute the logic of some fans, lol
@leannecampbell455110 күн бұрын
You’re comparing apples and oranges here. Rodgers ruined the best technical striker we’ve had at the club since Henrik, from the very moment he walked back through the door. Why should he continue to play under a manager who doesn’t even have the tactical acumen to work out how to play to Kyogo’s strengths? A striker that finished on 34 goals, 2 months prior to Rodgers’ return. We knew Kyogo wasn’t happy under Rodgers from last season, hence the change of agents last May. It was no secret he wanted a new challenge under a manager that will respect and value him more. Rodgers on the other hand sneaked away in the middle of the night after insisting time and again, he was staying for the 10. He rubbished claims of him potentially leaving and interest from other clubs in his obligatory gaslighting manner. When did we finally get our farewell? 3 months later and it was a slabbery one at that. He's still as treacherous, and he will do the same thing over again once interest from mediocre EPL clubs come calling. Snake oil salesmen never change. Rodgers made promises to us that he never kept, Kyogo never. Therein lies the major difference.

One point: Palma is a very good player who produced the good when he played. The issue comes down to the manager not liking him. This is unfortunate, as he is a very good player. Exactly the same as Meada playing up front. Anytime he has played that position he has been outstanding. Again, it leaves one reason and that is the manager. So stop saying "Oh it must be one reason or another" because they have proven to be both outstanding players in those positions. The question should be 'This has worked out so why has the manager not continued with it?'
