This is amazing, as someone who has Puerto Rican in my family, our culture is influenced by Yoruba ancestors. I felt a calling to this song and just saw it live at Afro Nation because the sound sounds much like our sacred percussion music in the Caribbean. I’ve wanted to understand Yoruba language more and this is the best channel on KZbin I’ve seen for this! 🙏🏼

You are doing such a nice job. I'm from Kenya and Asake is such a big artist here despite people not knowing the meaning of the Lyrics😂 I always feel like his music is so deep that's why I try understanding his words. Kenyans really love Naija music since Psquare days and we are arguably their biggest supporters outside home

Thanks so much! Lol I love this. I am able to see where my viewers are located and I have always been very surprised on how high Kenya is! Now seeing this your comment makes so much sense 😂

That's why I love you babe, because you're really promoting Yoruba language and make it more proud of. You this lady is a good Ambassador of my tribe Yoruba, because despite you leaving overseas, you still speak your father's language fluently.

That's great of you running through Asake's Fuji vibes. You really did a good job explaining every bid of Asake's often exuberant Yoruba street slangs to the world. I'm truly impressed. Please, keep it going.

I commend your video because you did a great job on it.😍😍😍 AKATA is a Yoruba word for feline mammals such as the black panther, the melanistic color variant of the leopard and the jaguar. It was coined by the Yoruba Nigerian students in the US in the 1960s and 1970s in honor of the Black Panther movement (Black Americans). We describe them as AKATA. If you look at the logo of the Black Panther movement, you will agree with me that it is not derogatory, except in the way people misinterpret it today, especially on social media platforms.
@anthonyajilore84503 ай бұрын
Thanks dearly, Akata simply means those who are exposed beyond their locality. It's not a derogatory has its being interpreted today

You tried with the translation 👍🏾 meanwhile "Yarinya" is an Hausa language for "a young lady" the terminology "Gaza" this Asake has to define what he meant with it. What l only noticed is that Olamide also used it in one of his songs as a title if I'm right with that.

Thanks!!! Very very helpful. In the beginning of his song Worldwide he also makes a reference to this name and I didn’t understand the connection (o ti pe ti mo ti n je Medo). You helped me to understand now
Where are the people that call "Yoruba Fuji" rachet. They have sore throat all of a sudden. They call Yoruba Nollywood rachet forgetting that Hubert Ogunde is the pioneer. The Yoruba movies on Netflix are the best, argue with your ancestors. Criticizing other people's culture to feel important is envious degrading, and hypocritical. The world is watching!
