I bought my own Asalato last week and I've been practicing every day. I've never been very good at precussion / beat consistency, but this video has helped me so much even just watching it for a few minutes! Thank you so much, this instrument is beautiful and you're extremely helpful in understanding the math and the physics. Looking forward to this whole playlist!

@@rhythm_with_alex I have a set at work and a set at home! whenever I need a break, I check out this video and try a few things - looking forward to messing around more with it when I'm home! Also, forgot to mention before - the first thing I did when I got them was Step One which should tell people how "intuitive" this instrument can feel when you first get it!

I saw the asalato instrument for the first time in my life only today , and instantly i was struck by the rhythm similarity to konnakol phrases And then while i was trawling through youtube and found you using konnakol to count the beat and now i am hooked! I am learning to play rock drumming, japanese taiko, and konnakol, I will just have to find time to learn how to play this form of percussion too! Thank you so for posting this video!🙏

Great video thank you. I’ve been playing for a few months now. I can do what you’re showing here but haven’t done so much counting, relying on my ear mostly. One thing, I cannot find large Asalato like you and many others use here in Portugal and I can hear that regardless of the material used, larger gives a deeper sound I prefer. All I can find are about 5cm. I’m wondering how difficult it will be to adjust to the larger type when I can get some. Cheers.

Alan, hello! Thank you for reaching out! You know, my first asalato set was of this larger size, and for the first two years, I played without any idea that smaller balls existed. It was great. Later, I discovered where to get smaller balls, and we began producing asalato using them. I think if you already have some skills with a smaller size, it will not be difficult to adjust. You'll probably start playing right away. If you're interested, we can make asalato for you with the larger balls (same size as in the video) and send them to you. Contact us at you.and.rhythm@gmail.com.
