In this video you will learn four exercises that can teach you how to find the foundation in Forearm Balance posture. Here are some tips to help.
-Plant the forearms and hands firmly into the ground, lift the shoulders, position them vertically over the elbows.
-Strengthen the upper back, lift the hips and walk the feet in towards you.
-Hinge at the hips to kick up into the position without changing your foundation.
- Once in the position stamp the hands and forearms down and attempt to vertically line up the elbow, shoulder, ribs, hips, knees, and ankles.
- Keep the ribs, sacrum, and thigh bones sucked into the body.
- Stabilize the entire body and develop your ability to balance.
David Garrigues is one of the few teachers in the US certified to teach Ashtanga Yoga by the late world renowned yoga master Sri K Pattahbi Jois. As an Ashtanga Ambassador, he bases his teachings on the idea that 'Anyone can take practice,' a core idea in the teachings of Sri K Pattahbi Jois.
David's mission is to help others flourish within the contemporary lineage of Ashtanga Yoga. While staying true to the traditional teachings of Ashtanga, David is adept at adapting the practice to suit all levels of practitioner and make it accessible to everyone.

I've gotten back into practicing Pincha Mayurasana now, and my alignment and balance have improved. I usually practice at home after I pick up my son from preschool, so I'm really going to work on this pose this evening. I'm so close to finding that "sweet spot." Namaste.

very cool. Been working hard on this lately. I'm so tight in the shoulders (or maybe just holding?). But not going up unless the hips are high.
