The umbrella is a symbol of supreme authority.. The smock that Otumfuo is wearing is over 300 years old and is ‘fortified’ physically, spiritually, magically etc against bullets, arrows, spells etc.. Only worn on very rare special occasions now and some Asante kings are lucky to wear it once during their life time.. in this case the funeral of his mother.. Queen Mother of Asante.. hope this helps
