I've actually been having that debate with myself. So far on the one hand hot shower is said to be bad for your skin especially if you have dry skin, on the other hand cold showers supposedly help you wake up and get going on mornings. Hmmmmm

I vote both. I definitely don't fret being a little dirty and messy because it is supposed to help immunity and allergies later in life, but proper hand washing should be a regular thing. It's so gross when people don't do that!

Naturally - you are both correct. But I think it's best to be right in the middle. I don't wash my hair for as long as possible, because they don't get greasy as fast as they would if I would wash them every day. I shower every second day and I wash my hands fairly often (after I go to the toilet and if I touch something dirty and sometimes when I just feel like my hands are sticky or sweaty). I think that is the healthiest way to go :) Love you guys - smart is so damn sexy ;)

+McToasty George Carlin summed it up pretty well. It's not a contest between a cess pool and a laboratory, both alternatives suck. If you want to guarantee your kid to be allergic to everything, just seal him/her into a bubble. And chicks love it when you don't show every day, tested and approved. Moderation (as usual) is the best.

Maverick lover no it does not. You just exposed to more pathegons. But you can keep your immune system healthy by taking probiotics every so often and washing your hands regularly. (Like when you go to the bathroom, a sickness going around, before eating food, etc) If you wash your hands more when an illness is going around you more like to stay healthy because when the illness is not airborne, it is very easy to catch it if your hands are not clean and you touch your mouth, nose or eyes. Yes being exposed to viruses can help your immune system but that's only after you defeat it. Then you will probably not get the same strain again but it is easier to prevent.

The microbiome in your intestine is responsible for breaking down a lot of what you eat, and can change throughout your lifetime depending on when it has been exposed to, medicine you take, etc. Studies have also shown that they can affect your immune system as well. Our microbiome is even believed to affect our genes! If you are interested in this kind of stuff, look into the human microbiota. There is lots research beginning to emerge on this topic that looks very promising, and could possibly answer the questions you just asked!

maybe a balance. wash your hands. shower. but not always use soap. there is a thing as "controlled chaos" as I like to call it. people see it as messy. it's organized. for me. kinda the benefits of both. since they say you work faster in an organized space. and the creativity of the messier space. seriously I can't concentrate in a really organized space. I just zone out. my brain just stops working. or my mind stresses out. a little messy yet logical and organized for me. gives my brain rest. probably because I have a chaotic yet really logical brain. and it only makes sense for me. so maybe what works best for you depends on what kind of brain you have.

In the making the bed matter, I'd actually read something in recent years that suggested NOT making the bed is a good thing as it prevents parasites like mites & bed bugs from having a the warmer, moister climate they prefer in a made bed. I personally am of the dirtier mindset as I do believe exposure is important to resistance and as such I've spread out my showers and also occasionally follow the no-poo method of hair-washing. Also, I haven't used soap or cleansers on my face since early high school (I'm now 41) and it's kept me from getting pimples on my face since.
