So, there is a potential discrepancy: Subaru could not see the Unseen Hands in Episode 15. I think this is true, but I believe it was for a different reason than immunity building. The way I interpreted that scene was that Subaru was so mind fucked that he wasn't perceiving what was right in front of him and was instead focusing on Rem dying, regardless of the means of her death. I also think it was kept in the back pocket for Petelgeuse to have his "HOW CAN YOU SEE THE HANDS?" moment But even if I concede the Unseen Hands point, he was still never affected by Gluttony's authority, and I wouldn't argue that he was building an immunity to Wrath, but rather that's just a natural weakness to an Authority like hers. If you know it exists, it is by virtue weaker as you can attempt to snap yourself out of it and correct the effects of the authority. Either way, it's an interesting discussion, but I'm not fully into the theory yet. Only time will tell!

Subaru himself says that he doesn't remember if he was acting or not, which means that he was mind broken in one way or another. Because if Subaru was pretending, he would have 100% remembered it, but he himself didn't remember it.

Subaru wasn't faking his mental torment, it was just that for Petelguese, Subaru's vegetative state could not be justified by Subaru's reaction to Rem's death ( what I mean by this is that if he was trully mind fucked & out of it, he would have laughed or didn't even care about Rem' s torture if he was truly mind fuck ). Still, that isn't enough reason to justify that Subaru didn't had a broken mental state ( from his backstory to his first loop in Arc 3, Subaru's reaction makes sense, feel me? ) So all in all, Subaru has a very broken mental state but not mind-fucked unlike the Sin Archbishops & the witches

Holy shit lol, thanks for calling out the comments on WCT. I just only yesterday caught up and finished arc 5 on WCT, and I remember that during this phase, people were actually braindead and complained about Subaru not dying to reset. Like you said, if you watched the anime and actually paid attention instead of jerking off to the witches, or even bothered understanding the story you are reading right now (because Subaru literally mentions it in his POV) that he does not want to rely on RBD and refuses to rely on it. It also helps because during this arc, Subaru started growing and accepting that the people he likes, also like him back, and he does not want to risk the chance of them losing him in case that world still continues due to what he saw in the witch trial during arc 4.

Re-watching this as S3 is airing, and something occurred to me (*note: I've only read up to the end of Arc 5): When it comes to Subaru possibly building up resistance to each Authority, I suppose he could've been affected by Gluttony at some point in the past and we'd have no way of knowing! Granted, this necessitates that Subaru must have spent some amount of time in the isekai world (which... doesn't have a name as far as I know? Curiouser and curiouser...) that both Subaru and we aren't yet privy to, but I don't think that's much of a stretch

I think you misundertood subarus and anastasia's conversation. Subaru's point of contention was that Ana wanted to sacrifice innocent civilians to get an advantage, and subaru wanted to preserve as many as possible. Wich is why Juls sided with him. Sidenote: The fact that Ana didnt even TRY to find an altetnative made me agree with Subaru more. Sidesidenote: I think its interesting that Ana compared Subaru arguing with her, with the arc 3 incident.

It's a great introduction to the vast lore & side stories of Re: Zero because the world of Re: Zero is vast & the way it can turn side ways are wide too ( If stories ). I highly recommend to be caught up with the Envy route ( main story ) before reading the mind fuck fest that is the If stories after to understand the psyche of Subaru in the current time & fucked up he could have been in 4 or 5 times

Bro I have been waiting haha The Subaru speech was by far my most favorite chapter out of all of it. It gave me goosebumps. I was listening to Studio Reverie about it but yeah. I read Chapter 51 until Arc 7 Chapter 38 on WitchCult translation and man it was truly a pain reading those comments. I mean why are you even reading the series if you don't get the idea. I swear even until Arc 7, dumb comments pollute the comment chapters so if you want, to save you from stress don't read it. Many ( not all ) comments are just dumb and doesn't make sense. Anyway, hoping to watch you react until the latest chapters
