Over 1 Million construction workers are exposed to asbestos every year and like 75 thousand men die from lung cancer every year. I Doubt they are all construction workers. As of know its only know to cause lung issues if you worked at an asbestos mine or factory. Just like anything, too much bad. People freak out about this stuff when its not needed. And the asbestos abatement companies want you to be scared so they have work. If its in the duct work you have an issue, but in most cases its not. Just put foil duct tape right over and it will encapsulate it.

Trying to find out if the tile in my basement has asbestos in it. Can u tell just by looking at it??

Just changed the carpet of my new house and noticed it was nailed to old tile. I removed the nails, swept and vacuumed, placed some carpet adhesive and glued carpet on top. A couple of days later was told the tile could be asbestos tiles. I put isolation and another carpet on top without gluing or nailing it. Will this prevent it from becoming airborne? Also I noticed that the tile was cut through to allow the central heater to come from the ground. Would this be safe if I leave it as is? With the nail removal, nailed into the tile, the sweeping and vacuuming, have I spread it around the house? How do I clean it from this exposure?

we found asbestos tape on our duct work. a few spots are cracking. We started to do the encapsulation process, however, Should be be testing the air quality of the house? Can we test inside the duct work to see if we should be more concerned? is it safe to have our ducts professionally cleaned after encapsulation? Thank you for your help with these questions.

My daughter wants to buy an old home. The home inspector found asbestos . She is in grad school. So money is an issue right now. Our inspector said we can just seal it for now, and not bother it until she has the money to have it professionally removed. Is this true? Some of it is hanging off of the pipes in the basement. He suggested duct tape? I don't want her to go near it!

Hi. I can get the asbestos tape remediated on ducts I see but what about the tape on the ducts in the walls. I am building a room Addition and it may expose the duct to the room and the tape is inside the wall. Then what happens.

If asbestos tape is not damaged can I just remove that piece of duct that has the tape thats not damaged

No don't do it. The glue underneath is dry and ready to go airborne as soon as you pull it

Sad as it sounds ive been living with my grandparents for 20 years and we finally someone come for out AC Unit not working properly and he noticed the asbestos. Crazy how long ive been breathing this stuff in.
