This song when i discovered it a few years ago punched me in the face! This song has sent me on a journey thru country music to find more and absolutely love anything and everything Chris Stapleton touches Steeldrivers and Jompson Brothers...he should stop giving his songs to other artists that hardly do them justice Chris plays them ten times better than the artists that made some of them famous. this comes from someone who once said "i hate country music" can i take it back?

+Dītalian Cole I don't give a damn if country music is returning to anything. For now I am gonna be just thankful we have Mr. Stapleton. Too many awards and too much popularity is only based on marketing and executive management. True music will always be my favorite regardless of what the populace seems to think. That being said I completely agree with you, I can only hope more follow in his footsteps and return...

A drive home to Texas from Tennessee through Dixie made me find Chris and a few others. Brought life back into my soul. A Kentucky boy that moved to TX when I was a teenager...soul has been lost since. I feel restored. I've cried more in 2 weeks than in the last 20 years. Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Jamey Johnson....these guys have soul in their songs- because they sing their own damn songs.

***** you're probably right. It seems that singing about "being country" is what is popular today...as if they're trying to prove something. ...the personification of being country... In reality, true country music is about telling the story of life whether it be about pain or joy...not having to prove anything.

i cried after listening to this...Tim's version lacks the emotion. the blues and country.. their both the same really, born in the south out of pain, heartache. one from a Black man's point of view and one from a white man's just like the blues song's like that ...man.. make you remember the saddest day of you life...when you were living those lyric's and remembering that pain. I've been there.. drinking as a way to cover my hurt. when i'm drunk i don't think about my pain. my brain in numb for a little while... but it wares off and your back to life as usual until you get another drink... being drunk gives your heart a break from hurting. vs. missing that woman that walked away .. that pain is like drawning..you panic, you cant sit still... you wanna do something to fix it but you can't it's 24/7 and will drive you crazy.... that's the difference between Whiskey and you... beautiful song. I'm a instant fan

This song's meaning to *me* is that drinking ain't more than what life really means. And I know what this song means, but this is what *I* think this song means to me. I drink every day and, I get a bottle of vodka all the time and.. I don't feel a thing when that vodka's empty. But there's a difference between me being drunk on the vodka, and me having a life, doing things I should be doing. Like having a life and being normal. The vodka helps me hide away from my pain and all the shit. I get this song, "That's the difference, between whiskey and you." I drink vodka, but I get it, y'know? It's sort of the same thing.
@breimcgraw70778 жыл бұрын
I get the same from this song! I'm not sure I want anyone's forgiveness. I want an escape from life's reality. The bottle will always be my escape from you and everything that I can't forgive myself for. I try to walk away from it...but it whispers my name...then screams my name...BREI!!! you need me! It's right, I do! For now, I'll just keep visiting that old friend. Maybe, someday, we'll say goodbye.
