I've been looking at getting an OLD TOWN GUIDE/DISCOVERY 119 canoe to haul all my fishing/hunting gear, then I saw your video! My experience has been kayaks, so I'm used to a double bladed paddle, which can be used with the OLD TOWN. This hybrid kayak looks like it would give me the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!! Tons of storage, like a canoe, with the stability of a kayak!!! What more could you ask for? GREAT VIDEO!!!

Looks like it may go straight to the bottom if filled with water if swamped or flipped. No sealed flotation. Is there double hull construction? Well now that I watched the hole vid you address this towards the end.

Good info, I'm a big dude and stability is what I'm most looking for. I'm new to kayaking and I'm still in the research phase. looking forward to your future videos!

This looks like the perfect kayak for fishing the flats. I love the openness, wish it had a small dry storage for valuables.

Can't wait to see how you will rig it up!

Me too! Haha, I'm still trying to figure out how I will mount everything.

Any ideas of an option to add or attach a yolk for portaging? Great review man. Thanks I'm 6'3 295 lookin to hit some backcountry camping and run some small rivers up here in Canada. Hoping this is the ticket :). Cheers

Can you do another review but on the water please?! I am really interested in this YAK Bc it has a ton of storage and is stable. I am planning on hopefully using it as a year round YAK for fishing in the summer and hunting in the winter and also would like to use it for camping as well. What are some of the pros and cons you have found with it?
@rnds76b2 жыл бұрын
Do you know of anyone who makes a hard cover (like the front one) for the rear storage area?
@greenridgeoutdooradventure34339 ай бұрын
When you sit in the H12, are your legs straight when you put your feet on the foot pegs? I’m 6’2” also and wondered if my legs still had to be bend with the foot pegs and seat as far away as possible.

Need an on the water review! Is it tough to stand from that low seating position?
@jamesmullen42978 жыл бұрын
Not sure... But I believe I purchased your old FS12T from a guy in Ft. Worth via Craigslist. Had it on White Rock Lake yesterday. Awesome Yak! Love the fish finder. Give us an update after you rig it up! Great review.

Is there a small camera mount by the front handle?
@jamesmullen42978 жыл бұрын
+R.j. Hillman Yes it does.
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
+James Mullen then you own a very well taken care of FS12T!

Strange. From what I have seen of the H12 it looks less stable than the FS12T. Will you put up some videos of you standing and fishing in it?
@TNRVG8 жыл бұрын
How well do you think this Kayak could handle a 60-90 lb fish? Such as a Flathead or Blue catfish.
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
Panfish I wouldn't advise it. If you're in open water and lean over to pull a big fish out of the water you'll be at risk of filling the kayak with water.

Rj...where did you place the transducer...there is a vee in the hull of the FS!12T..off to the side? did you use goop?
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
Barely to the side, and yes I used marine goop. worked great!

Hey Bro. Thanks for the video. Have you rigged it up yet? I am considering ordering one but I can't find many setup videos for this model. I'm up in Wichita Falls by the way.

Great review! They do look sharp. I would say they are a bit faster than the FS12T even with my longer paddle I was giving it all I had to keep up with you.

Rj..I need advice on the FS12T transducer mount...can you help?
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
I personally did the thru-hull for my FS12T. it worked very well for my unit. Plus it was very low profile and not messy.
@OutdoorMishaps8 жыл бұрын
I am the same size of you maybe a tad lighter. was the fs12t stable when sitting? i was told the fs12t wouldn't work for me cause of the capacity (350lbs) and I am 250, which I don't get. but I am new to yaks

How do you move it by the water? Do you have a cart

im also a big guy, how is this kayak in a shallow river setting where you might have to get in an out often..............
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
I was still able to paddle in less than a foot of water. It's very easy to get in and out of.
@benterwellen8 жыл бұрын
ty for the info, hope you do some more videos on this kayak.......
@benterwellen8 жыл бұрын
does it fill with water as you get in and out?
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
+ben terwellen it does not. The only way it will is if you lean the kayak too far to one side. For me, it has never came close to having that haopen.
@benterwellen8 жыл бұрын
ok just wondering this one river that i use sometimes the water level is 6 inches or less in places so the kayak needs to be dragged to deeper water, now if this kayak functions in shallow water its not a problem wont have to get out that much........

Finally a solid review on this Kayak! Haha I'm in the same situation your went through. I have a decently modified fs12t and I am looking into getting this kayak. Do you think you can troll if you had say a ram mount on a scotty rod holder in those slide tracks? I almost put those slide tracks on my fs12t but I put 2 scotty rod holders on each side instead. Thanks
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
You could troll with that setup if you have the right paddle technique and length, especially considering most people troll at a slow speed. In my opinion it would be even better to have the rod holders on the front gear track far out of the way in case you wanted to paddle quicker though.
@TDFishing8 жыл бұрын
+R.j. Hillman Ok thanks. The only thing I'm worried about is having the rod holders rip out of the track if your drag is too tight. I know on the scotty track that is a problem. Not so much on the metal ones though.

I had the FS12T and thought it was very slow. How does the H12 compare in speed vs the 12t?
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
Iowa Fishing Addiction the H12 is a little easier to paddle imo. Although it's not a speed demon lol
@lydicjc8 жыл бұрын
any reason you didn't look at/pick up the 128t?
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
The extra weight of the kayak, and lower weight capacity.
@lydicjc8 жыл бұрын
+R.j. Hillman thanks for replying! Torn between the 128t ($799)and the new Vibe Sea Ghost 130 ($899 and includes paddle and rudder available in May). Haven't seen enough reviews on the hybrid yet.
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
+Jerrami Lydic I personally would go for the Vibe. That kayak is a stud for the money. But of course it all depends on how you will be transporting the kayak, where you will be fishing, and of course personal preference.

How much do you weigh and can you stand on it
@rj_babydoc25348 жыл бұрын
I weigh about 310 pounds and can stand in it. I don't fish standing , but if I really wanted to I could. but please keep in mind that a lot of that is determined by the agility of the person in the kayak, not the kayak.

@rj_babydoc25349 жыл бұрын
I understand man. If it's your first kayak I would try the FS128T They're safer. If you're experienced then give a hybrid a shot!
