Cantata can roll with eye of the storm and opening shot or moving target. You can focus at gunsmith too, plus it has flinch resistance after relaoding. I use Hawkmoon and Sturm alot, trying out Luna's it felt really weird to use but I got a god roll. If I can't get used to Luna I'm going to try to focus an opening shot Cantata to pair with my new Conditional Finality I just got. I wish Luna's just had the regular 140 recoil cause it's got great perks.

Honestly your description for how 180s feel is 100% how I feel. I feel like I'm so precise and still missing shots like there's less bullet magnetism. Then you put on a 140 or a 120 and shots just land, as if they have a bigger hitbox or leniency. Not to mention when I miss with a 180, it "feels" like its harder to get back on target, due to the recoil and the "feel" of less magnetism. You often overcorrect in an attempt to get back on target and keep missing. It "feels" more punishing than the natural bounce of a 140 or the more deliberate kick of a 120.

People are just used to a 140 kick and being forced to aim. The biggest strength of the gun is the AE.. stompee mains and anyone who plays in the air should be using Lunas. It's actually the best feeling hitting headshots in the air again.

I just couldn't disagree more with the precision instrument conclusion. There's no world in which being given free damage increase for doing what you already do is bad, especially paired with eye of the storm for duelling. If you wanted slide opening, just use rose imo.

PI doesn't help you get the kill any faster over any other dueling perk is the issue. It's not like Iggy where you're already dealing enough damage to get a 2 head 1 body with PI, no matter what it's going to require 3 heads with Luna's. The only thing you can argue you benefit from PI is the slight range boost from the damage increase.

Don’t underestimate a full AE investment roll. A niche play style but there are no other COMPETITIVE options to leverage a high AE stat. Knucklehead, thread of ascent, extended mag, Icarus mod = 100 AE on a competitive hand cannon

On dawnblade all you need it the heat rises aspect and an icarus mod. 80 AE at all times which is plenty for Lunas (even more with certain mag options). If you want to go all in just consume your grenade, though I don't think that's really necessary.

I love 180s and their recoil animation was a part of that. I just couldn’t get them to work in crucible, no matter what, until I picked this thing up. Everything I love about 140s and 180s in a single package, almost feels like an exotic.

One thing to keep in mind when talking about Luna's Howl vs. Igneous Hammer is this: Igneous requires you to do Trials to get it, which means you have to have the most recently released expansion purchased AND deal with Trials itself. Meanwhile, Luna's is readily available to new and free to play players.

Funny enough when you mention the issue of "the gun should be shooting faster than it actually does like something hold you back" is EXACTLY what I felt when I used another old HC, The Seven Seraph Officer. This gun felt like you're trying very hard to control the recoil so it doesn't jump off your hands, making me feel like I'm holding it back. Funny how Luna's somewhat similar. For me ironically, I'd want a Subs/Howl combo because other combo are more common to find. Howl is only on Luna's for now.

Hey loved this clip. After an evening of grinding a few weeks ago on console, I got a Brave LH with Slide shot/ opening Shot /Ricochet Rounds Full Bore. On Luna's Howl Full Bore is doable even with a 71 range. When compared to the Not Forgotten this LH has better handling (40) out of the box, same aim assist, better AE. For me this roll looked do able and in play I couldn't have wished for a better drop. This confirms for me that there is a top roll out there to farm. I like the precision recoil so I'm good to go. For PVE i have an incandescent roll.

Precision instrument stacks go up from HITs, which means body shots adds to it too. Enhanced precision instrument also increases each stack's damage to 5%. I won't say no to free damage.

The arguement I’d make for precision instrument is that it’s good for finishing off enemies that are already a little damaged. I have a slideshot precision instrument roll and I can’t count the amount of times precision instrument turns a three tap kill into a two tap or even a one head one body clean up. Exalted truth here is a monster gun with possibility to have 70 range, 80 stability (or pure 95 range for PC with 50 stab), eye of the storm and a key to bypass every over-shielded titans and warlocks in healing rift.

You've missed out a powerhouse of a PvE tool with heal clip + magnificent howl. 50% damage increase for half the mag(on average) just for getting precision kills, it absolutely shreds minors and majors. Then with the baked in heal clip benevolence goodness it absolutely slaps, don't sleep on it!

Before I start this ‘rant’, full transparency, I’m a controller player so that will likely impact my opinions heavily. I have Zaouli’s Bane (crafted), Epochal Integration and a heal clip + incandescent Luna’s Howl (not a flex, just a basis for the review because EI is a static roll and Zaouli’s is craftable). It’s fairly telling when looking at the kill count of each gun how I feel about each individual one. I crafted Zaouli’s Bane at the end of Season of the Deep and it has 11k kills as of now. My Epochal has ~4.5k kills and my usage went down because I got Zaouli’s (EI was what motivated me to get the final few red boarders). I got my godroll Luna’s the day it launched and as of now it has 8.1k kills. As much as I try to not show bias, weapon feel is as big of a factor as lethality, as far as the staying power of a weapon is in my inventory. I love handcannons, almost as much as I love SMGs (150k total HC kills and 230k total SMG kills), and as lethal as Zaouli’s is, that’s the only reason I used it, I didn’t like the gun, but it’s good. The recoil, the model and especially the reload, it just doesn’t feel good. The kill count is deceiving, but Tyranny of heaven which I crafted also at the tail end of season of the deep is sitting at 25k kills and I don’t even like bows that much. I’m well aware that this is meandering around the point, but, in getting to it, the reason why I’m probably not going to be running Zaouli’s anymore is because Luna’s just feels different. A good different. It took a while to get used to, because as Nomad pointed out, you expect the gun to shot quicker, me especially because I got the OG Luna’s when it realised and I was an avid user of a rapid hit + incandescent Trust. To add onto that, when again yellow bar enemies, the lack of recoil (my roll has 72 stability), feels like it lacks the visual power (recoil) that Sunshot and Zaouli’s have, despite it still hitting like a truck. But as humans do, we adapt. I went from feeling like I was going to drop the weapon entirely, to almost being in a trance like state when the kill total suddenly skyrocketed to 8 thousand kills. I’ve even been cutting down my usage because I don’t want it have too crazy of a kill count before it’s craftable. It may even rival my highest kill count primary which is Calus Mini tool, which sits at 46k kills. I just realised that I haven’t even talked about the perks. So, Zaouli’s, amazing for chunking down yellow bars due to EP, plus that extra bit of range it provides is great. Currently comparing incandescent perks is unfair because Zaouli’s is craftable. Mini rant warning, I’m tired of people saying there isn’t much difference between the enhanced vs unenhanced Incandescent beside more scorch stacks. Incandescent has an initial burst, which applies a radius of scorch within a certain area that depends on the strength of the enemy combatant, proceeding this enemies receive tick damage (which is affected by weapon buffs) for a period of time that slowly decays. Hypothetical example, initial tick of 900, final tick 400. During this time enemies are slightly staggered. Enhanced Incandescent increases how long the tick lasts, as well as slows down the decay rate of the tick damage. An enemy that might not have died to normal incandescent, would die to the enhanced version. Not important in low end content as most things will die by you breathing on it, but is especially important in high end content where aside from procing ignitions, incandescents lethality decreases. As an avid user of Dawn chorus (because I was using Sunbracers for years before they became the absolute meta, so I’m long since bored of them), the longer the tick damage, the more time that damage is buffed and the slower decaying of damage numbers means that the total damage an enhanced incandescent proc can do dramatically increases. End of mini rant. Moving on, I dislike the base reload of Epochal and I dislike the inconsistency of when I do or do not have stats for all active (plus UI sometimes gets so cluttered you can no longer see when it wears off). As someone who splits his playtime between solo and team content, heal clip comes in clutch in both environments. In solo (and group) there is plenty of times where I simply do not have a restoration nade up or if I’m running Karnstein Armlets and I don’t have a melee or I don’t want to clear the distance between he and an add due to boss pressure(example; first boss of warlords ruin between damage phases where there is typically just yellow bar scorn), it can come in clutch not only to save your life, but also to not waste of healing nade or melee when there is not many adds around. It can also replace the oh sh*t button that healing nades normally occupy. Additionally it great on subclasses that lack consistent healing options, like Broodweaver, Shadebinder (less so because I would rather run a demo or headstone weapon), Berserker (I know it has Banner of war, but sometimes that healing can be outpaced by enemies damage), don’t care about Behemoth, Revenant and Thread runner. Conclusion, this is the longest comment I’ve ever written and probably the one that will be read the least, but Luna’s Howl is a work horse weapon for those who don’t have Zaouli’s (too many people are sh*tting on people for being excited for Luna’s because Zaouli’s exists and news flash, not many people raid, let alone raid enough to have the pattern, content creators on average nonchalantly dismiss weapons because they have the crafted version), for those who dislike the feel of Zaouli’s, people who like additionally healing options, people tired of using Zaouli’s, etc. Anyway, heal clip stock is about it explode because with Prism only Warlocks have access to healing nades (unless an unveiled fragment gives you resto from elemental pick ups) and the only source of resto X2 is from Karnstein finishers and there’s no guarantee that we will have an ember of empyrean type fragment either. Warlocks also have access to devour and it’s not confirmed if Hunters and Titans will. Additionally, as addressed, Luna will have access to enhanced incandescent, making the only difference between it and Zaouli’s, a healing perk or a damage perk. Thanks if you read this, I’m probably overlooking some things as a lowly rank 9 guardian, but I guess my overview might be more in line with the main player base of D2 than a rank 11. I am in LOVE with this gun, and i play MnK :) Its super sticky and good with slide/opening or eots/mag howl. i have those two rolls and I have ZERO issue with it. I swap between it and my Rose almost exclusively for legendary hcs!

Fun fact: subsistence + mag howl is actually not terrible. Subsistence refunds charges of mag howl on kill with the bullet. It is definitely no heal clip incandescent but it is a fun interaction regardless

Run the HC/incandescent role with ember of benevolence on starfire protocol. I used this on the encounters on this week’s pantheon and it single-handedly revitalises what SP used to be. It’s disgustingly good.

Luna's honestly surpasses Zaouli's in PVE for me, because Heal Clip is a godsend for me, especially solo content Sometimes, your healing grenade isn't up. Sometimes, you need health NOW. Popping the head of a red bar, quickly reloading, and feeling safe and able to change cover without risking your life. Combined with being a hand cannon that can deal with orange bar enemies and not needing sustained fire to drop red bars? It works. Its a very specific use case, but I typically prioritize survival over slaying ads, and this is the epitome of it

I've been maining a EA/Incandescent foil roll of Luna's Howl since it became available, and I think the main issue with the gun is that it takes a LOT of getting used to; the reduced visual recoil on the gun is quite nice, but if you've been using any other HC- Zaouli's Bane, for example- then you end up overcompensating for the lack of recoil. All in all, 9/10, would recommend.

I was trying PVP rolls because I like to experiment and the roll that seemed best for me(controller) was eye of the storm, desperate measures. with 71 range. It was doing really well compared to the other ones. Trying to get more magnificent howls rolls to test that.
