Same. I'm on my third playthrough and I'm playing as Dark Urge and I've got plans to romance him for the third time.

It's the tone shift in his voice when he's Ascended. Maybe this is what Sebastian meant when he said his name sounded like a Lyric on his tongue. 🤔 I would have been behind those bars too like... He got you too huh?! 😅

I hadn't thought before how much more affectionate Ascendet is to his beloved than to others. Hmm... maybe that's why the rest of his companions are afraid and dislike him😅 From the outside, he is really more intimidating and prickly. When talking to a loved one, there is so much warmth and tenderness in his voice, he cares about her and does not tolerate when someone else gets into their personal relationship with her. I like that😊

I like that too, and damn, just the thumbnail alone tells quite the tale. He looks meaner, gaunter, and most of all alone. That's one aspect that hits extra hard I think. Despite grabbing up the power from Cazador, he's still alone with no one that ever trusted him enough to get that close. Even if he approved of you being just friends over lovers, it's still a hit to his overall well being. But if you are his romantic partner, you trusted him enough to see things through and still stuck by him, maybe even going as far as to become immortal with him, to stay by his side so that he'd never have to feel lonely or hopeless ever again. You provide stability which he badly needs, and love that he's truly been denied for centuries. A calming effect happens and he acknowledges that, which might be why he gnashes his fangs at the naysayers in the group. He has calm, and love and he isn't going to give that up because some yuppie says so. 😂

@@MizuMing Although in Act 2 it may seem that he is happy to remain friends, but in the same scene after the ritual for spawn, he will say that "I would like to share this moment with a partner, but he is also happy to share it with a friend."😢 I do not know how I can leave him without an romance, he needs a loved one and not just a friend, on any path.

@@AlexKhodja I agree, he needs someone to balance him out. A literal Yin to his Yang. If a romantic partner is capable of that, they're worth all the gold in the realms. Leaving him alone breaks my heart, and on those few games where I don't romance him, I still pine away for him anyways. 🥲💕

@@MizuMing Its like, AA "I want to rule this town" MC "I want to travel around the world" AA "Whatever you want, my love" MC have huge influence on AA. He ready to do anything for him/her. Except for let go. Sort of unhealty relationship, but depend on roleplay it can be good for both.

@@elenapanova8297 I can understand why he's so clingy though, he was isolated for so long, unable to do anything but be trapped alone within his own body. He was even trapped for a full year alone in a coffin too as punishment once. Now that he has someone who loves him, he doesn't want to be isolated and alone be anymore. He wants to be right up front, seeing everything and being like a nosy cat, just face first in everything. 😅 You want to do something, he's there for it! As his significant other, he wants you to be happy, and your joy is his literal joy.

When he means we can save the city means so that he can dominate it later because if there no city then there no city to dominate.

Controlling a single city from the shadows is like a 2 on the evil scale, somewhere around corrupt mayors and mob bosses. The Githyanki want to conquer and enslave the entire multiverse, compared to them Astarion's goals seem rather quaint.

Yes, the true evil is not in one vampire who indulges in hedonism, but the corrupt elite and the dishonest guards of the city. Gortash was not a vampire, but how much trouble he caused.

You can achieve it during the confession scene in act 2. In the confession, if you follow correctly the option to show you truly care for him, you would get a few options- top is to show your feelings (use the tadpole to share minds). Second is to hug him (personal favorite :) ). The third is to become his friend, aka "Maybe what you need is not a lover, but a friend". This 3rd option would end your romance with Astarion, yet you would stay as best friends together. The hug and show emotion via tadpole would continue your romance with Astarion as usual, while becoming his friend would shift you to become besties who are no longer romantically involved. You would still need to trigger his romantic confession tho (Yurgir with high approval or Araj), without it he would break up with you in the beginning of act 3, ending your relationship together. Or you can just not start the romance with him to begin with too, hehe. Either way way works!
