It's a pain if you don't summon, especially if you did all the quest lines peacefully. The arena isn't fit for that sort of fight. At least with the Shulva gank, the arena allowed you to separate them and get some space

People getting pretentious about questlines in Fromsoft games are really telling on themselves. You didn’t “skip” Freyja’s questline, you engaged with the game in a reasonable way and the game punished you for it, locking you out of her questline. It’s the same shit with advancing to the Shadow Keep “too early” and people lamenting “all the quests you missed” (ie a few short bits of dialogue) because you didn’t have the foresight to know that walking forward slightly past a random spot would cause all the NPCs to update. It’s almost as if people didn’t actually watch the episodes in which you constantly went back to Freyja to try to get something out of her, but because you committed the sin of giving Ansbach an item that he asks for too early, you don’t get to finish her quest. People are wild man. Thanks for the great playthrough/episode!

I mean, Freyja's questline is fairly obvious, it's just unfortunate that he found the scroll and gave it to Ansbach before he found Freyja. But that's not really a fault the questdesign itself in my opinion. After all, this is a massive openworld game, where you can basically reach any area at any point in your playthrough, so things like this can happen. And the intention isn't that you have to get everything done in one playthrough, even if you miss stuff, the story still makes sense. Honestly most of the DLC questlines are fairly easy to complete without a guide by just exploring and paying attention to what's happening. The only one that isn't really clear imo is St. Trina. But getting to things out of order or missing things in a game as big as this and as free as this, kinda just comes with the territory.

Since you didn't do Freyja's questline by giving her the note Ansbach gives to you, you didn't know this. But the reason the final boss is Radhan is because Miquella wanted to revive him using Mogh's body to become his consort as part of a vow the two made. And since you didn't do Freyja's quest she doesn't show up to the fight with Leda. Still, hope you enjoy the final boss, it's gonna be a wild ride

The Freyja part was unfortunate, the entire DLC has very easy/straightforward quest design and I'm sure Mapo would've succeeded if Ansbach's map marker hadn't stopped showing up (before the Messmer fight). Though as Mapo replied in another comment chain, it's not something to take too serious (he explored the DLC really well otherwise). Still an enjoyable experience for sure. It is hella funny of course that Mapo finished the base game quests on his blind run almost flawlessly, even though these are much harder/way more obtuse. :D Back then he didn't even have NPC map markers up until a later patch. The reliance on the markers might've backfired for the DLC.

Its not that he didnt do the questline, its just really easy to mess up the quest if you give the scroll to arnsbach immediately. Something that's reasonable to do when you run into arnsbach first, then find the scroll on the way to freja's location (which you dont know yet at the time). Its an interesting lesson in level design really. I think this item shouldve been somewhere else after you meet up with freya, so that when you go back to armsbach you can always tell him about her

@@MonoFlax I found the scroll first, the quest still worked. Iirc Mapo did not return to Ansbach because his map marker had disappeared. He only went back to Ansbach after defeating Messmer. This did get pointed out in the video comments by others too. Either way, can't have it all in a single playthrough in a game this big, it really doesn't matter in the big picture.

Fighting leda and her allies with my own was sm fun, probably one of my favourite moments of the game. Everyone coming in and commenting during the fight about what had happened during the dlc really made it feel like the culmination of the story

Leda's armour is just an alternate version of the armour set you got in the first area of the DLC. So the gauntlets, legs and helm from that set are what she is wearing as well as what you picked up from her.

25:50 - "the animation work on the dance" It's funny because in the pre-release version of the DLC that some creators got to play, the dance animation was bugged and only the top half of your body would do it, so instead of a graceful dance, it looked like you were horribly breaking your spine and twisting yourself into knots every time you did it.

With Gaius and Freja the dlc really wanted to remind you about radahn's existence for this reveal it seems haha, and ofcourse the fact that Mohg's body was stolen, whic his what Ansbach wants to find out what for, and now we learn it's so Miquella can put Radahn's soul in Mohg's corpse. Fun fact, this was also teased with the requirements to enter the DLC being: Kill Mohg AND Radahn in the base game

Something fun i've seen pointed out, is that the hornsent worshipped a horned lion deity, and after Messmer's crusade they prayed that it would cast down Marika and her children. Now Miquella wants to use the red lion general with omen horns as his lord when replacing Marika's order. Something something prophecy coming true in unexpected ways.

Fun fact about the Rakshasa: it doesn't, as far as I recall, actually increase your damage taken at all. It just has less defensive stats than armor at a similar tier, so you take a bit more when compared to other armors but it's not *increasing* damage, and it's not so significant that I noticed in actual play.

I think it's just bugged and they mistakenly applied the 2% per piece debuff to the armor itself rather than your character's total, lol. So the 8% ends up just being 8% of hardly anything.

Oh, and there is a unique aspect to the Rakshasa's Great Katana that is hinted at in the description; every single attack gets hyper armor. Even one-handed! This comes at the cost of a _very_ minor increase to damage taken, but it can be worth it when fighting anything annoying and fast that likes to interrupt you.

Freyja's quest is unfortunately quite easy to mess up, I don't really blame you. It provides some key lore about Radahn/Mohg and makes Freyja be a fun part of the Leda battle. I wish Fromsoft would patch the questline to be more forgiving

The good part about my internet being out for a week is that I get to come back to this. I've been waiting for it for so long. The NPC fight, I refer to it as Those United in Common Cause because that is what the OST is called, is one of my favourite moments in any Fromsoft game. Truly amazing.

My PC blew up at Shadow Keep and i lost my GPU and 150h savefile. Tough stuff. So ive conformed myself into watching Mapocolops playthrough because he is one of the few uploaders who cares about exploration, lore , soundtrack, art design etc the way i also do in Fromsoftware games. But given the cuts, I don't think he keeps any off screen, just trims down the attempts where he dies, because he knows people who watch do enjoy his struggles almost as much as they enjoy his triumphs.

​@@Necrotes_ Well that noise has a pattern. Side slashes does side-to-side light rays, and forward strikes do straight light rays. It forces you to dodge in a specific way and not grow accustomed to 1st phase "anywhere works" style. The only thing i found annoying was Miquella's hair, and the double slash which was just fixed in the latest patch.

I think you've misunderstood what the shadow lands are, they aren't the lands of the dead they are simply hidden under a veil in the middle of the lands between because shit is incredibly fucked. I don't really blame you because death is a big plot point and confusing in this game. Again just ignore me I'm just commenting on past nonsense. The final boss being a resurrected Radahn in Mohg's body actually makes a lot of sense even going back to the very first Elden Ring reveal we got back in 2019. You can see Malenia whispering in Radahn's ear. So yeah Miyazaki is a genius basically.

Kind of dumb from From Software how Freyja don't progress to the Leda fight regardless of your interaction with her. It doesn't feel natural, but I guess they didn't want you to gain her equipment if you missed her questline. Anyway, Rakshasa's set is bonkers and it doesn't even increase the damage you take by much at all. Pretty sure it's not working as intended. 😅
