Fr. Mike, I was an Oblate Sister of St Francis deSales many years ago, and have a great devotion to St Francis deSales. Though I eventually decided the religious life was not my vocation before taking final vows, I have continued to follow the Salesian way in my spiritual life these past 30 years. I do agree with you about the Introduction to a Devout Life. It is a simple way to lead a deep life. I make my Direction of Intention prior to each daily action. God bless you father. We sorely need more priests like yourself.

Reading the bible before breakfast and before bed is great, sometimes reading the lives of Saints who have much in common with us is also VERY exciting and encouraging. So many Saints, once you read and learn about how they lived, how God worked in their life or how they overcomed challenges with God's grace. It can be deeply resonating and very personal. Thanks Fr. Love the rolling joke "because you're watching this video". Got a few LOL's out of me on those. One more book well worth the read, especially from a Eucharist view point is "The Holy Eucharist" by St. Alphonsus de Liquori. Really opens the heart to Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament. I personally have been unable to find a spiritual director, but as you mentioned the Holy Spirit Himself is THE Spiritual Director. Add to that great books, and videos by you, Bishop Barron and many others, spiritual direction is always available to those who seek it with an open mind. Thank you for doing your part. God Bless you.

Will Father Mike, in my case you wrong I love to read along when you are talking. The Bible in a year I started with the book and was so in awe of its greatness that I read it Nate months you read it eight months to me, but I found a little long and it’s a reading of colors for things that I thought needed to be remembered. So then I thought well you’re through it but you went too fast so you’re gonna do it again and this time you’re gonna do one day and listen to everything he has to say and everything that’s in the book and your notes. I also had an idea that I should do the catechism in a year too. It didn’t have the book. So I literally write down everything that you say leaving lines for when you go back to explain it. I love books. They are probably my favorite thing, I love reading and I love listening. I have a little problem. I have no peripheral vision so I can’t drive anymore. I have adult degeneration in my right eye, so I’m going to lose the sight in it. If I’m lucky I’ll keep the site in my left eye. Which, for my whole life was always the one that was the worst and now it’s what I’m hanging into by a sliver. I start my morning and end my day with Jonathan but a lot of the middle of the day is you. I have other things wrong with me unfortunately so I spend a lot of time by myself and with my books and KZbin and Hallow and ascension. Was the best $70 I’ve ever spent in my life and I’ve spent a lot of money in my life and not only was it the best thing I ever purchased it is the most meaningful thing that I have ever purchased because it will become my lifesaver and probably a year. So keep talking keep educating keep answering the questions that sound kind of goofy I need to know the answers to those things, and I don’t always know how to ask, our young priest after massive I’ve got a question for him. He knows if I’m gonna come back right over two minutes. OK it’s time for ask father Brian. And sometimes my questions seem amazingly simple and sometimes they’re complex but he always has a good answer and there‘Father Brad he’s been around a lot longer and sometimes I know that I need his guidance and I am happy to say that both of them are always there for me. I don’t undergo invasive test or a biopsy or anything else without them either giving me the rights for the sick or saying a prayer over me, I love them. One of them is my younger brother and one of them is my almost as old as me brother. But keep talking keep making videos. Find other books to read if I could ask you even though I think you read too fast anyway to put it in gear because I don’t know how long I’m gonna be able to read and I want to be able to read as much as I can, so if you’ve got a couple thoughts for when you finish the catechism I know you’re kind of busy building a church in the Newman center and I promise I need to get you some building. It won’t be a whole heck of a lot but every little bit helps. On the days when I am really super in pain and I can’t go to church, they know I’m with you and that’s OK. Please keep reading. Keep finding good books. Keep giving good advice. Keep being you. Because I’m almost old enough to be your mother but what you have to say is very important and it counts and I look for it every day. God bless you.

I really like these videos. They are so laid back and comical at times. I always thought priests were up tight and strict and rawr type personality. It's so much more inviting, so thanks! I'm studying Catholicism and I guess the Deacon I talk to on a biweekly basis would be a spiritual director? Not sure, but he's really helpful in answering my bzillion questions, lol. I thank God for that, I would really know where else to begin to be honest. I do think most Catholics have their beliefs within the church but some of them are based on opinions (which confuses me like you wouldn't believe. Wondering if its the church or them or mixed...). But anyways, I love your videos, keep up the great work! :D

4:00 - "those guys aren't saints yet" This is the exact criteria my wife uses now for picking spiritual books to read. She's been too disappointed in books by the living, which just seem to be too watered-down or "dumbed-down". The classics have so much meat on them, it's really quite telling about the "soundbite" culture in which we live.
