38 years married, and yes, you have to be friends first and foremost. Mutual liking and respect. I always tell my students, never be with someone you can't respect and for goodness' sake, don't be with someone who doesn't respect you! You don't have to "do everything together", but enjoying each other's company makes it all worth while.

My husband is my best friend. First Jesus then my husband. We didn't get together until we were almost 38 but well worth waiting for. We married 2 years later. It's not easy but well worth it. I love him more everyday and it doesn't seem real that we are coming up on 14 years together and 12 years married. We weren't able to have children but I believe that has brought us closer together. We've grown together spiritually and our faith in the Lord has been our strength. Neither of us have been married before either. Thank you for sharing this adorable couple. Yes be friends and get to know each other first it's worth the wait.

Their marriage is beautiful. 💝 People aren’t willing to be of service to one another anymore. Starting a marriage on friendship is key. You get to know a person on a different level. It’s not about lust. My husband and I became friends in high school through a mutual friend. It’s also important to always respect your spouse even when others talk badly about theirs. Also no matter what pop culture and society tells you about feminism there has to be equal respect for a man. Let men be the man in a relationship and he will treat you like a queen and she’ll treat you like a king.

After 27 years of marriage, I learned yesterday my husband has been unfaithful. He hid it well. I never suspected. I found out by accident. I suppose he got sloppy in hiding his secret. My marriage must have been a joke to him. My emotions are all over the place. I feel I have been traumatized. I have not confronted him yet. I may not even attempt exposing him to his folly. I have no fight left in me. Our relationship has always been so trying. To be honest, with everything we went through with all the battles, I don't think he ever knew how to love me. Unbelievable the red flags I purposely over looked. God, I am so sad right now. I wasted my life with him and he wasted his life with me. Okay.... thank you for letting me vent. I don't dare tell my family or my friends. I have no shoulder to lean on. I'm in shock, numb, and broken. I don't want to go through this. I don't know how to go through this. I have a brave face on for now because I have kids and grandkids. I need prayer.
