Love thy neighbour...bear the mistakes of others - does it ever get to the point of becoming a "doormat" or a "pushover" .... like how to prevent that and still love thy neighbour to the max?

I believe we need to do our best to discern if the aid we provide is doing good or causing greater harm. Some injuries require a bandaid, but others need to breath in order to heal.
@MissPopuri3 жыл бұрын
I guess the other extreme to avoid in "love thy neighbor" is avoidance completely of our neighbors. That avoidance can come in the form of shunning communication with people for fear of rejection or staying away from people because you don't want to catch whatever is swimming in their craw. One of the other pitfalls I've noticed is the ability to use Occam's Razor in such a way that you simplify your life by eliminating all the things that stress you out the most. This is the reason why Occam's Razor is said in philosophy to be a logical fallacy. You can only cut so much until you are left void and empty. Although, this might be seen as Nirvana in the Eastern spiritualities, the effect of reducing yourself in that way can potentially damage what makes you most human.

Thank you so much for this inspired message today, Fr. Josh. I profoundly agree with you. One point I would like to suggest, which I have noticed in several Ascension videos and elsewhere, is in regard to loving those within our geographical location. The world is different today. People across the globe from one another communicate directly on a regular basis. We need to broaden our conception of who is a part of our community, especially when interacting on the internet. Somehow, it is easier for people to forget that the one communicating with them is a human being, made in the image of God, worthy of dignity. Thank you for considering this. God bless.

I would say we must remember that we are body and spirit. God did not make us angels, so IMHO we need to promote a restoration of locality and local culture to better remind us and the culture of this neglected reality. We can have both but our local community is given to us by our God-given nature.
@seans.1313 жыл бұрын
@@LostArchivist Thank you for your comment. The local community should certainly be stressed. I had in mind another phenomenon that is analogous to what Fr. Josh was describing as the homeless person we attempt to hide ourselves from by rolling up our car window. #askfrjosh (a.k.a Father Cool J lol j/k kind'a) 1st off CAPTAIN PLANET is my jam!! 🤣 Buena's Trades Father Josh, I am a four year sober citizen of Heaven (amongst so many other crazy things as of 02/21/2022 God is Good!). God unbounded those chains in Alcohol; (Like the warning to John's Father, Malachi). I am a restored, healed addict. In his promise my health has been given back 7 fold. I am stronger now than in my 20's (Isaiah 40:3). An ex-convict now called to use my old gift of Rhythm And Poetry (RAP) in the past used for the Devil; now called with purpose to use this Charism of (Musical prophecy, encouragement and healing) Hip Hop to illustrate faith over fear and for Gods children to not be mad at God anymore! Father Josh I am trying to Rap for Jesus or get a team going in Rap for the Body of the Magisterium some how?!?! I can tell (not throwing stones) that you got plugs (an Emcee/Altar BBoy? A alike B alike right? lol) in the Hip Hop Community. The Catholic Church needs a Catholic Hip Hop team CHH is suffering without Strong Catholic Representation in Hip Hop. I am passionate and truly believe that the Devil been spiritually beating, robbing, holding hostage the Wisdom of Word in Hip Hop. It's true purpose and influence can still be won back!! Bring new flock in Sheep that speak that language. The unholy trinity specifically targeting Catholic Hip Hop artists and principalities since the inception of the Word in Hip Hop. This has nothing to do with me nevertheless. It has to do with an awesome opening of a World Renown Catholic Hip Hop movement to take it back along with R & B from the Devil and make new era Disciple's using music like the Psalmist's did! I just have no idea where to start. I have music ready to get people started. Any advice will be eagerly waited for. Amen in you for Christ Jesus all day! 🕊 thnx Fr. Cool J!

#AskFrJosh Can you do a video on josephite marriages explaining what it is and how discern them and my glory story could be started when I felt God's love after reading A lineage of grace (would recommend but warning it is written by a protestant so the author assumes that Mother Mary was not a virgin after the birth of Christ) . I also shortly afterwards saw Christ face dying on the cross in Black and White and I knew it was him because when I looked into his eyes my soul jumped for joy I also saw the love in his eyes the love for me and the whole world as well as the pain of the cross and the sorrow of a lot of people not accepting him and his gift of salvation as well as the sins and suffering of the world. I also have been told by God a future event that will take place when I incessantly asked him and it happened exactly like he told me. I also spoke in tongues and God told me to help a Muslim lady who I didn't know needed help.

Do the charisms apply to people who haven’t been baptized in the Catholic Church??
@imalive4u1693 жыл бұрын
The seven gifts we received from the Holy Spirit when we are Confirmed as a completion of our Baptism is wisdom, understanding, council, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of God. Thesr are the ordinary gifts received as people don't receive an equal share in each one of these gifts as one person might be extremely gifted with supernatural knowledge like a mystic but another person might be extremely gifted in enduring in their faith during difficult times as the gift of fortitude. As for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are ordinarily given by the Holy Spirit these is extraordinary gifts given by the Holy Spirit to a few individuals called charisms. For example there are people gifted with supernatural knowledge and there are a few people that have received the gift of prophecy they can literally hear what God tells them in their prayers but often people choose not to believe the prophets of God and they are often hated by their own people.
