Perhaps we can all stop bashing other religions. Buddhism points out that clinging is our suffering together with ego, which is true, in Christianity that would perhaps be translated "of the world" or "earthly things". Being a Protestant, but respectful to other religions, I recognize many things that are the same across religions, although they may be described differently. Another thing, why do Catholics believe Peter or Simon is the foundation for Jesus' church? Is his statement on Jesus in Matthew 16:16 "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" not just the formulation of the cephos/rock/foundation of Jesus' belief? What makes him a pontiff? He seems to be rather unremarkable in the acts of the apostles. If anyone should have qualified as a pope it would have been Paul.

@@wilderness4071 you say one should stop bashing other religions and then proceed to bash the disciple Peter by saying ''He seems to be rather unremarkable in the acts of the apostles". Christ uses the least expected for his glory, he uses the most broken, yes, even the most 'unremarkable' to use your words. Christ's power is revealed in weakness. Lord bless you.
@wilderness40717 ай бұрын
@@angelosioannides8382 I believe you are mistaken, the bible says the meek will inherit the earth not the weak. It is obvious that Peter did not understand Jesus' teachings and he denies Christ 3 times. If you do not know yourselves, then you are in poverty, and it is you who are that poverty. The kingdom of God is in your midst. To the extent adversity removes your ego then maybe the weak can be led to the light, but how many do not instead chose to die in the streets rather than give up on their ego? Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.

This whole sermon was amazing, but towards the end especially made me cry - that Jesus loves me that much, as I am. Thank you and God bless you. Do you feel all the current day practices and customs were what the original Jewish Christians (the Apostles etc) engaged in? As a Jew who converted to Christianity, I see some things I’m uncomfortable with in certain Christian sects. I get it there were changes to religious practice documented in the New Testament, but some of the excessive use of images makes me uncomfortable and seem to have developed post New Testament.

And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. @user-vn7ku1qp5j The remains of an ancient Jewish Synagogue have been found at a site known as Dura-Europos. Inside this Jewish Synagogue, all the walls are covered in frescoes of scenes from the Tanakh, which date to about 250 AD.the golden cherubim from the tabernacle (Exodus 26:1), were situated on the wall facing the worshipers, as opposed to the ones placed sideways or to their back; so whenever the community prayed, knelt, or bowed during worship, it was literally towards (or in the direction of) these representations. (A similar reasoning could be applied to Exodus 25:18-22 with regards to Moses).God approved lions, oxen, and cherubim to be carved in worship place? If God never said that , then how could Jews dare to engrave them (not just paint, but engrave) in their temple walls. (BTW God did not stop them from engraving lions and oxen in their temple walls) Most probably Jews became adamantly against the usage of Icons in worship in the later periods .

I’ve been there, as another person who primarily feels love through physical touch. I had about 5 years where I rarely received a hug, with the exception of a few genuinely caring ones from friends in times of stress. All of a sudden I would rediscover just how transformative it was to get one hug, and I would literally spend weeks hugging a pillow every time I went to sleep, trying to chase that feeling of genuine love. Then God sent me my now fiancé at a time that was perfect, and I don’t have to hug pillows anymore. He never leaves me without a hug long enough to forget what they’re like. So I hope you find someone like that soon, because I believe that feeling loved is genuinely a spiritual need. I hope you dream of Jesus holding you close to His Sacred Heart. Imagine yourself there as often as you can. And I hope you find someone who embraces you so often that you never forget how it feels to be held close to someone’s heart.

This theology of the body is so incredibly essential and the lack of understanding of this caused great harm to my life, but I am beyond grateful, I am eternally grateful that I heard some of this on youtube during the pandemic when we were all so isolated. The reason, logic, clarity of this purpose for self, relationships and respect for intimacy as God intended, changed my life for the better and helped me to reconcile parts of my life to Christ, and helped me to lay down a lot of burdens and confusion I had carried. It freed me from the painful misunderstanding of the worldly ideals about romance and sex and put all into proper healthy perspective. Humanity is starving to death spiritually from a lack of this most basic understanding of human nature as it should work in relationship to the God that created all life with beautiful purpose. Thank you

Hello Fr Mike. Thank you for all you share with us. I am very grateful for this opportunity to learn about the Catholic faith through you. I am someone who loves learning about many different religions. Buddhism has been one that I have been interested in as well. And Buddha did not believe everything was an illusion. He taught us that form (matter) and emptiness (spirit) are one and the same thing. And that there is no seperate self. We are at a fundamental level, selfless. And that we are all interconnected through this emptiness (spirit). Buddha also taught us to love all beings as a mother loves her only child. Buddha taught us to develop both wisdom and compassion. I write these words with great respect and love. 🙏🏼💙

The serpent will always whisper in our ear that his way is acceptable to God, just as he did with Adam and Eve, only to be left feeling ashamed, confused, dirty, and afraid. But God loves you more than you can ever know. No matter what we have done or has been done to us. He is stretching His loving hand to cleanse us of our mess and embrace us with the true unconditional love of a Father. My friend why do we keep His hand waiting? What holds you back from fully embracing His hand and allowing him to destroy the serpents in your life?

You give the most amazing talks Fr. Schmitz, I hope you are aware of your gifts and are not used by those who talk a good talk about the bible, yet no commitment to Christ and who wrestle with God.

Do you mean Jordan Peterson? Just wondering. I think Jordan is on his way to Christ. Jacob wrestled with God

First time ever that I've heard what Adam was supposed to be doing in the garden of Eden, and what he didn't do! There is so much more in Genesis that's never been explained. Thank you and God bless you and your ministry.

Amazing talk Fr Shmitz! ❤Wow! This video was recommended to us by my priest, Fr Paul McNulty & the way you break it down in relation to Hinduism, Buddhism, & Atheism made so much of my confusion about things dissipate. Thank you. I'm a recent convert & had seen the world thru the eyes of Hinduism mixed with Protestant and so I was a wee bit confused, but this that you've shared makes perfect sense. ✝️🕊️🌹
