I have often failed at fasting . Now, the Holy Spirit is helping me work on it before I get there next year. God willing, I will be able to sacrifice in his love.

I don't know you at all, but just wonder? Were the fasts too harsh? I find it hard to fast all day so by the advice of a priest i fast on Wednsday and Friday for half a day and watch how that impacts health. Could something like this work for you as a temporsry tactic?

Normally I love Discerning Hearts, but I found this video very unsatisfying. Didn't really help me to understand how to incorporate asceticism into my life or give any real concrete examples, other than the snooze button on the alarm clock. I appreciate that, but still disappointing video.
