I've been in the hospital for over 2 weeks now. Was approved for a transplant and my MELD score is so high I jumped to the front of the line. Just waiting for a liver. Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. One of the best in the country for liver transplants. Wish me luck

Hello LD. So glad for all you do. My son passed from a variceal hemorrhage this past summer. He had tried many times to stop drinking, but kept relapsing. He was sober for 7 weeks prior to his passing and I am so proud of that accomplishment. I can no longer do anything for my son, but continue to pray for you and your followers. So glad for the info and insight that you provide. Sending prayers for a successful and uneventful procedure on the 16th. Again, thank you for all you do.

Hey laurel. I am so very sorry that you lost your son. May he rest in peace. I am so afraid of that happening to me as well, I have have varicese break and I have bled internally many times. @ absolutely man. One of the worst drugs out there.. I did alot of damage to my body but luckily I was into benzos and opiates so my liver was mostly ok (not great), but I did a lot of brain damage and nearly died many times from overdose. Never going back. Peace.

My parents and some other family just got over a bug recently. Do you think you caught something, or is it perhaps related to your current, ongoing health problems?? I want to tell you that your channel and videos make such a big difference in life for me personally. In terms of health in general and holistically as well as getting rid of dangerous habits and changing the paradigms of your own mind, thoughts and feelings. How to prioritate and deal with the challenges along the way. For my part this amazingly important channel has honesty made me stop binch drinking all together, never drink on days of work, skip alcohol at parties. And, thus, I have got a whole new view of life and on which parts of life mean the most. Family, friends, a nice job, nature, enjoying high quality foods and so on. Though I have never been abusing alcohol and been addicted, I have done so much partying, joining concerts. In addition to this, music festivals with a lot of drinking from early morning and until the next day. I have been able to sence quite clearly that I COULD get an addition to the alcohol during these festivals because they typically last at least 4 days and I had sometimes started to feel like I could not get through even 1 day at the festival without drinking alcohol most of the time...clearly a sign of a potentially iniciating addiction both mentally , psychologically and physically. I have come to realize that because of your channel ❤️❤️🙏. A lot of drinking which I want to distance myself entirely from by now, completely and I for sure know that I will NOT be missing out on anything by quitting alcohol and that I definitely won't be missing it in any kind of way ❤️🙏. It is a new fresh view and chapter of life for me by this year, 2025. I am so grateful to you and how you change both your own life and also turn things upside down in such positive ways for so many people. Are you ever gonna post pics of how you looked when you had ascites and were first diagnosed with cirrhosis? I know thats personal, so i totally understand if you don't want to do that. I was diagnosed with fatty liver and enlarged spleen in 2021 and dealt with some horrible alcohol withdrawals. My face and body were swollen. I was shaking so bad that i could barely walk, i had high blood pressure, a fever and stubborn cough. It took me about six weeks to reverse the damage to my liver and spleen with a healthy keto diet, exercise and supplements. I feel like a dodged a bullet. I'm rooting for you, I cant even imagine what you've been through.

So sorry LD. This is going around with a vengeance! My daughter and grandaughter have been non stop sick since October! Ron had a parasentesis one week before he died. Top cause of death....sepsis. I also thought the parasentesis led to the sepsis, but no one would admit to it. He had comlications post procedure.(NOTE: He had leakage from point of entry... plenty parasentesis before this one that was successful, the usual 12 liters). His legs were so huge! Ascites is no joke! He had cirrhois and was near the end anyway. Wish you would take time to rest up and get better. I can tell you are not feeling well. Great video.

That makes sense, the paracentesis can introduce bacteria into our gut and cause all kinds of problems and sounds like that's what happened to ron. It gets to a point I guess, where they have to make a decision. The fluid gets so bad that we can hardly breathe or eat and i guess that they have to decide if it's worth the risk. I know what it's like to get septic from the fluid and it's horrible. I have never been so ill in my life. That was the sickest that I have ever been. I am so very sorry that ron got so sick from it. I knew 2 ppl who suffered with ascities--both were cancer patients in their 80s -they went to hospital 3 X per week to get drained.. They were not at all healthy--and did not live more than 3 months after this time.. They were both very kind, very good ppl -and it was so sad they got this sick..

Furosimide is generic for Lasix which is a diuretic/water pill. There are ppl who take it daily for years. Prescribed to a lot of heart patients for fluid around the heart or fluid in the legs. You have to take prescription potassium with it daily or you will end up in sad shape with low potassium. Spironolactone is usually prescribed for high blood pressure, also contains a diuretic in it, just not as strong as lasix. 20 yrs in nursing. You're doing a great job educating people. I stumbled upon your channel some time ago and have followed your story and pray for you always.

Oh. About the protein shakes. I wasn’t a diabetic before my transplant. My donor was. I didn’t find that out until last September. I was drinking ensure protein drinks. My blood sugar went to 1040. After my week long hospitalization the put me on glucerna. I wish there was a way that I could talk to you. I’ve been in your shoes. You’re a strong person. Keep fighting bro

@@angiesweeting6618Yes I did. I found out my donor was a diabetic and they say that since your immune system is compromised because of the anti rejection drugs you can become a diabetic. They also say it’s not good for you to get sick because it will take a long time to recover.

Eating was the hardest part when drinking. I did get very very bloated once I quick drinking it all went down. Everyone is different tho. I was just blessed.

Glad to see you still doing good man. I was watching you a lot this time last year when my dad had cirrhosis. He sadly passed last year at age 40 due to cirrhosis. His ascites was bad. Extremely distended belly, very swollen legs and feet. He said it was super painful to walk, and also the toxin buildup from the unfunctioning liver made him really confused and disoriented the last 2 days, as well as really bad insomnia. It was a sad sight

My brother-in-law was an alcoholic with undiagnosed hep C. Two weeks before he passed he was admitted to hospital weighing 400+ lbs., and upon admission he immediately had paracentesis...40 lbs of fluid was removed! Docs said more could have been removed, but it would have put too much strain on his body.

Anyways hope the dr has some good news and it’s not a virus. Are you able to take antibiotics? I know there harsh on the kidneys and liver just wondering. Anyways, if it’s a common cold good ole fresh ginger, lemon, honey tea & rest should do the trick. As for the video ascites sounds so horrible. Feeling full all the time…ugh I’m so sorry you and anyone else on here had to suffer with this. Hope it never happens again. You definitely provided lots of valuable tips. My kids have been out of school since like Dec 20th and they just went back today. It was really hard keeping up with them and youtube at the same time. I woke up this morning feeling a lot better today! I'm so happy about that. I’m so sorry you went thru that and unfortunately I can empathize way too well. From mid-Sept to mid-Dec I put on 90 lbs of fluid from ascites and that’s without drinking (did plenty of that prior though). Thankfully my TIPS is working well and 40lbs of it is gone in 2 weeks. Just wish it would come off my legs faster

In my opinion, a person needs both positive and negative reasons to stop drinking. What replacement activities are you doing to fill the time you used to devote to drinking? Think about the parts of your life that would get better if you stay sober. Count your blessings. Think about asking for advice from your sober buddies. This is a perfect idea to talk about with an AA sponsor or a fellow member o another type of support group. it should go without saying that you want to avoid the symptoms that LD is describing such as continuous bloating, frequent attacks o nausea etc etc

Hey magicalgirl. Please don't drink. You have 99 days of sobriety! That's a long time and think about all the days that you went through hell not to drink. Why do it now? It's not worth it. It's not worth ending up with cirrhosis and chronic pancreatitis like me. I also have type one diabetes from drinking as well. Over a million dollars in hospital bills, over 20 surgeries. Please don't do it. You will instantly regret it, I promise you! It's not what your mind is hyping it up to be. You quit for a reason, think about why you quit when you think about it again. Thank you for this video. You are making a difference for a lot of people. You've mentioned that you had ascites multiple times. When I research life expectancy with ascites the statistics are pretty scary. Have you started the process for applying for a liver transplant or have you dodged that final bullet? What kind of life expectancy do you expect? I'm trying to be strong and be direct with my loved ones if I get to the point where I know there is a finite time. Nobody has told me the degree of my cirrhosis and ascites has not occurred, as far as I know.

My best friend is in hospice right now in the final couple weeks of his life. He’s only 61. He has a drain installed and gets drained every other day. It’s the most awful way to die, but he chose the way to live. The liver is an amazing organ, but it will fail if you continue to drink alcohol and abuse it. So sad to see his body start to shut down. He will be gone in the next couple weeks.😢
