@@joharitalib781 Spanish influence is strong in areas such as Zamboanga and many parts of Eastern and Northeast Mindanao. In Zamboanga they speak Spanish creole or the Chavacano. In areas like Bukidnon and many part of Davao...many Filipino -Spanish families have resettled. They owned large land and plantations, usually those areas go on to become a town with a village church and to an extent a Cathedral.

We need to understand that not one Philippine dance is representative of the country simply because the Philippines has many cultures, cultural dances and practices, hundreds of languages and several religions. The dance presented by the Philippine delegates is not the sole cultural dance representative to the country. It is just one of many dances. We cannot impose on a mandate of "must be similar to" whatever because we cannot make it pure Latin dance. It is always influenced by the Philippine Asian ethnic cultures in the country. Filipinos, whether we like it or not, is still and will remain an Asian country and cultures especially family relationships. And again, Philippines whether we like it or not, is heavily influenced by Chinese culture especially in food and family. And most Filipinos especially in the central Philippines and south have Chinese blood even the northern part. As to Latin dances, even those different Latin countries, though they're influenced by the Spaniards culture, their present cultural practices in dance are still very heavily influenced by the South American native cultures. All I can say is to embrace and love whatever we as Filipinos have culturally, NOT WE TO COMPARE US TO THIS AND THAT BUT HAVE OUR OWN IDENTITY whether it is influenced by such and such.

@Thunder Beast This our culture no matter what we do. We can't erase that part of our history. We can't alter history. This is us. 333 years under Spain made our country like those in latin america. Now to answer your question. Yes some of us Filipinos do like this culture brought by spanish bc we don't see anything wrong w/ that. We embrace and adapt it. In fact we wouldn't be identify as Filipino if it weren't for Spain. This 7000-island-country wouldn't be united and be called Filipinas if it weren't for them as well. It's a shame Spaniards eradicate our own culture. But are we just going to despise them forever? No. We embrace it and took their culture as our own. And no, it's not that we like to copy other culture. It was Spain who forcefully imposed their hispanic culture to us. Spain is different from British, Dutch, French, etc. colonizers. Spain treated their colonies as their extended territory. Just like the Philippines. We were not a colony but a territory of Spain in Asia. Thus a profound influences of Spain were left here in the Philippines.
