@bluecavemen3 жыл бұрын
doesnt have ash just makes the smoke more harsh. you figure the ash should be remove to help you enjoy the flavor tobacco and not get mix in with the ash. it like a cigar you want to get rid of the ash ( you dont want to fall on you ) i never really why people keep the ash on. but any who if you have the fresh tobacco that hasnt been burnt why keep it on? same idea if you have a cigar and you stop half way. then a hour or show go back to smoking it the cigar it spoiled. you have ash that just stilling there spoiling the fresh tobacco. you really can get that same flavor after relighting it.

That’s the one benefit of smoking rolled tobacco- You flick the ash away as it forms. But a lot of that ash is from that disgusting bible paper most people roll with. But yeah-relighting pipe ash is no fun either and it’s definitely an issue. I try to loosen ,tap and empty whenever possible- And your so right- knowing when to call it good can save your throat and nasal tremendously. Thx for the pro tip- Good stuff Piper.

BrunoT - You're a prime example why I started the channel, when I started most channels just glossed over what a beginner needed to know, I was told by several people before starting the channel that I had a natural way of teaching, whatever it was I was speaking about, so I decided to start teaching new pipe smokers what they needed to know when it came to smoking a pipe, and I have to say the success I have had is surprising, I thought I would put up a video, and might have a couple hundred subscribers, but wow, over 10,000 in a year and a half, truly unexpected. After about a 20 year hiatus, I found my pipes in a box.. back in the saddle again and enjoying your channel. One question that still plagues me is... building cake at the base of the bowl. Every pipe I have (Savinelli, Ben Wade, Deprey, Peterson, Ser Jacopo, etc) I have the same issue.. I can never seem to keep it burning at the very bottom, and the last light I'm sucking flames but never seem to get cake built on the bottom.. just the sides, all the way down. Is this a big deal? Any tips? Thanks!

In addition to what you just said, in my experience I've noticed that the ash that we usually tap during smoking created unecessary hot spots in my briar pipe. In other words, today I always remove the ash just before it gets too hot, and relit again for the final round and it works perfectly, as a result the top of the bowl doesnt get hot. I'm happy that you took a time to teach people, those little things about smoking a pipe make a lot of difference, even to prevent cracking the bowl. Thank you Muttn!

May I ask what state you are in ? Also what is the name of the app (?) you catalog with on your Ipod and is it available on Google Play ? Right now, I'm smoking some Captain Black White (aka Original) in my favorite pipe, a Stanwell Danish Star, also known as a Diplomat. Its kind of, well, dainty but it has the best grain of my 17 pipe collection. Despite what other tobacconists say about Captain Black (like "Why dont you move up in the world and smoke something better") its my favorite tobacco and to hell with them. The other two tobacco shops in town have their issues as well that I dont want to mention because I am a frequent customer of one. My point, I guess, is thank you for being the tobacconist YOU ARE. On another topic, and I dont know if other pipe smokers do this, but I catalog my tobacco experiences on 3x5 cards in such a manner as follows: Carter Hall Aroma: faintly sweet Taste: absent Aftertaste: Ugggh Grade: C Thats all for now.
