Really? I think they're a really underrated band - from the interviews I've seen of them, they've never had any pretensions about their talent or skill, despite the fact that Tim's songwriting is critically acclaimed. I must admit, I dismissed their music as simplistic when I first heard it, but it's got the same clever songwriting at it's core that the early Beatles stuff did - not in your face "cleverness", just catchy rhythms and great choruses. I agree they were better with Charlotte though.

Probably because Tim never could and still can't sing! Don't get me wrong. I'm a massive Ash fan, was jumping around like a loon to them on the Isle of Wight last weekend, but it's true! They're a band that used to punch above their weight based on talent, especially without Charlotte.
