@AWSVids Жыл бұрын
I can't tell if you're serious or not. 5-storey wood-framed buildings are very common. This one is only 4 stories of wood-framing on a concrete first floor, or a "4-over-1". They're commonly built with up to 5 storeys of wood-framing on a concrete first floor, making 6 floors overall (called a "5-over-1").

I wonder how much power the US could save building their houses with adequate insulation. In my region, we have much higher temp summers, but don't need AC, and here are completely new apartments that rely on AC to keep them cool, rather than using thicker walls and 3 pane windows.

What kind of apartment building is made with wood ? I understand a small 1 family home being made with wood, but an apartment complex ?! Cmon
@timpula99843 жыл бұрын
Most 4-5 story apartments complexes built in the last 30-40 years are framed with lumber. The lumber is typically sustainably harvested from tree farms. It is a good and cost effective material - although over the part 12-14 months lumber prices have skyrocketed. If the same apartment units were built out of concrete or steel you'd easily add 30% to the cost of the unit.

In this stick-built house, you can probably hear someone walking or sneezing on the first floor on the fourth floor. In my opinion, the frame type is the worst option for a 4 story apartment building. It is the cheapest and most unreliable construction option, but for sure for a lot of money. And of course you will be lied to about the fact that this house is eco-friendly.
