Honestly I have never had a huge issue with the XP-50. Most people that I encounter think it's a free win, but they just don't have the experience to use it properly. Now running into a player that does know how to use it? Yeah, that gets really annoying really quick.

Seems to be an anomaly then because I tend to always get into fights with these things with experienced players, when I'm in something rather heavy or a vehicle which can't really climb well.

@@Ash007YT I'm not sure if its just me but I think a lot of veteran players have migrated to the lower tiers because in air realistic its the most enjoyable part of the game, so the more experienced are showing up to grind SL and thus your problem XD. (as a level 100 myself for 4 years I have noticed a lot more max level accounts at the lower tiers)

@@Ash007YT Skill issue maybe? I don't play a ton of low tier stuff anymore. If I do, I am usually play low tier sweden or germany, and I just never seem to have trouble with it. I think it's Gaijin trying to entice back into the game by making me feel good, then when I get fully roped back in that's when they start matching me with good players so that I make no progress.

@@snottytoe6957You just don't play that tier enough to fight that plane. Usually they're flown by experienced players and even if the player is mid at best they do very well in the XP-50 because of how OP it is, if they removed the air spawn it would've been fine.

@@mayonotes9849 I have a friend who has a line up of like every good american premium. The BF 109, the zero, and the xp50. He only plays air AB and he is NOT good. Obviously that doesn't speak for every XP-50 player, but he is absolutely a major outlier in the stats.

You mention how good the B7A2 is, I'd love to see you show it off. Its one of my favorites of late as its a dive bomber that performs like a fighter and has Japan's notorious turn speeds. A great plane to catch people off guard. No one expects a dive bomber to be such a beast.

This and the Wyvern either need to get moved up to 4.3 or have their airspawns nerfed. They're not "OP" planes on their own, but where they get to start the match gives them a massive advantage.

There was once the air-race event when instead of biplanes u could race in ANY rank 3 fighter u owned, an the XP-50 was the one that dominated the race. Yes there were some planes that could catch it in the straight parts, but had to slow down significantly when they wanted to make the tighter turns the track had while the XP-50 didn't. Sadly I only bought it years later, when the 50% sales became regular (not that I needed it at that point just wanted to try it).

Funny you mention that. Every Pyorremyrsky I encountered couldn't out climb me. Certainly out guns the xp50

@@Ash007YT He wasn't doing it right then, I'm usually on the same plane as XP-50. Also, B7A2, either one of them, can both outclimb and outgun the XP-50. Just gotta lose the bombs and go full fighter mode.

the fact that this is faster, climbs better and has more maneuverability than the J5N1 that sits 1.7 BR above it is completely laughable. And the amount of people that still defend it is crazy.

I think the sub-folder P38-J is slightly better, granted it's .7 br higher. But it's got a nearly identical climb-rate, rolls better, and has great air-breaks -- I guess id consider it a perfected xp50 Also, funny note about the real life xp50; it didn't even survive it's maiden flight, it's engines overheated and burst into flame.

From what I understood part of the reason the XP-50 and it's predecessor the XF5F failed was both the army and navy set some pretty absurd requirements that weren't quite feasible, not to mention changing their bloody mind and tacking on new requirements whilst still expecting it to stay the same weight and size, with the engines and technology available that early. In the end it did pay off though since it matured into the F7F Tigercat just took some time and better engines etc.

I beat one with a BF 109 G6 Late . Just get em in the higher flight levels , like flight level 220 (22 thousand feet) and get it slow. It can't pull like a bitch if it's one too slow and its in thin air

How to beat XP50, don't encounter any player who had 500+ battles in the aircraft. Abuse your elevator and rudder and you can easily deal with them.

@@Ash007YT super easy to bait them into turn fights in my own experience, they *should* be boom n zooming, but the allure of an easy kill on a normally much slower opponent is too irresistible

I miss my serious Air RB days. Best I ever managed in the XP50 was 7 kills (maybe one assist) with about half my 20mm ammo and over half my 50cals. 1000% recommend getting used to seperating the 20s and 50s

You can comfortably climb at 20° and be at 7k before even spotting the first enemy bomber. The cannons are ... ok. The .50 cals have a ridiculous tendency to instantly kill planes. Not just pilot snipes. You can saw bombers and attackers in half with a single tap. It's like this thing is stuck in another patch. Now, aside from outclimbing korean war era jets this thing also outturns almost anything at its BR if you add the tiniest amount of verticality. Your mere existence is an energy trap, your sustained turn is completely nuts caused by the insane (one might say wrongly coded) power to weight ratio. You can turn of one engine and hold down S and still win. Excluding Spitfires and the japanese techtree, if you turn with those you are an average XP-50 owner. Downsides: limited ammo (kinda). I can lock up but thats also a sign that you are sacrificing to much energy and should be recovering that before reengaging the enemy. You will win any match with that strategy - excluding Wyvern spam ticket bleed matches. Your rudder doesn't like speeds outside the 320-450kph bracket - stay within that bracket by abusing your arcade flightmodel. Biggest downside: If you fly this thing, everyone knows you drive a big car for a particular reason. Also it's a premium. Biggest upside: Still not a Wyvern.

I acquired one of these around 2019 I think, and knew nothing about it beside climb rate at that they seemed pretty uncommon. This was during the days when BV238 squads could wipe a match just by bombing, and was pretty much the US's only plane that had truly good climb rate to meet them in time. I think once that bomber meta came to an end, did it really become the menace we know today. Once that happened, players still climbed with them, and it came into its own by "stallfighting". Being able to use altitude to pick your battles, drain opponents energy, and continuing to maneuver on combat flaps while even Spitfires stalled out is what made the XP-50 particularly fearsome. Of course, now that the economy doesn't suck, I don't see the need to play premiums so much, so I've flown it maybe a handfull of times in the last year. Edit: It also use to be br 3.7, which made it even better.

3:20 Not that I think it would have allowed you to outmaneuver these guys, but in my opinion in an end-game, life or death scenario like this, getting the most performance out of the plane is more important than worrying about engine damage from overheating that you would take if you were still at max throttle(and alive) in a couple more minutes.

XP-50 pilot's MOMMAS! You know fine well this isn't how they play Ash. They never fight fighters, but take a Halifax as high and as wide as you want, and just as you arrive over the first enemy base, an XP-50 will appear above and behind you with no notice. Aparently even spaded Halifax gunners can't see them within 1,000yds, or maybe they are cloaked space ships.

It's not the climb rate (not even highest at this BR), it's the 1.5 km advantage you get with air spawn

98% of xp-50 players will dive on the first strike aircraft they see, and slam into the ground. I can usually beat them in a dogfight, but the die more to the ground than to me shooting them. A true low tier pay 2 win experience where most people who've bought it don't have the skill to use it.

The fact this thing gets an airspawn is mental. It's just so easy to club in it because 90% of players will just try and stall up to you early game. Without that airspawn, I don't even think it would be that overpowered, maybe still a very good plane, but not OP.

I remember when the P-47 had the airspawn, it was the absolute madness, half of the teams would be P-47s and the airspawn meant that it could reach like 5-6k meters at the same time as the 109s (still slower climb than the XP-50)

Ive beat many of these . Even the skilled ones. Mind you i used a BF 109. Secret is keep your energy and get him slow and hungry

@@memehamster523 I think he underestimated my BF-109's high performance at altitude. Plus in thinner air you loose speed quicker in such planes .

xp50 is annoying to play against , playing it though sadly is pretty fun . But not always , the only thing you have to worry about is bf109s that climb to space even a slight altitude advantage and you could be in trouble if they know how to play . and often times since your're the highest your team will die long before you , meaning you often get 1v3 1v4s and higher . 1/7 kdr is crazy mind you i have 8 deaths in the thing 2 came from people crashing into me 2 because i wasn't paying enough attention or enemy wasn't spotted . 4 were because i got outplayed in a 1v1 or i was in 1v3+ (I'm above average but have 1600hrs so I'm ok at the game) ,having a brain helps too

Airspawns need to be severely nerfed. In low tier theres the yak 2 kabb, then theres this and at 6.0 theres the hornet. Everywhere you look theres some shitty meta attsckers just dominating simply due to airspawns

I don't hate it, just don't like it. Didn't play long on the BR it is on so when I met one either I died or was going to die already. Since I started to grind the bombers though, I never met one at all just saw some fly 8 km away from me Nevermind, the first one you showcased I never saw one at all😅😂

XP-50 players aren't necessarily that great because, well, premium players aren't necessarily that great, and it being an OP aircraft for the BR does not prevent the game from being pay to lose.
