I remember when the store I worked at got the Princess Diana memorial Beanie Babies. There was a riot... Some woman got her ankle broken... The police came. Watching my then boss disappear into a rabid mob of people with purple bears flying everywhere is still one of my fondest memories.

They would buy those damn things every chance they got in the late 1990's, including driving to various McDonald's to get the "exclusive" ones, and they would get two of everything. They stored them in huge plastic bins and the collection took up a lot of closet space. They asked me to put some on Ebay a couple years ago to get rid of them. The horses in the Girls' Toy Box are from the Pony in my Pocket line - those cards are unmistakable. I remember getting some of the Puppy imP but the details were crap so I abandoned the brand. You actually made me look up "The great red dragon and the woman clothed with the sun". Thanks for pointing me towards those magnificent paintings. Also, the Gogos were used in a kind of game similar to Pog, where you would agree to an amount of Gogos you'd be willing to bet and then you'd all line them up in a fashion similar to bowling and use another Gogo as the "ball" and you got to keep the ones you knocked over. There were other variants such as something similar to beer pong (two lines on each players side and you had to knock over the other player's Gogos in order to keep them) and even a variant similar to pitching pennies, throwing them against a wall with the winner being the one whose Gogo lands nearest to the wall. Weird how many popular children's games resemble adult gambling and are somehow legal.

Wow I didn't knew about BRITAINS SPACE toy line, guess it never made here to Italy. Did a bit of research and I think it was a fantastic toy line. Back in the 80s italian toy companies imported stuff from U.S. and Japan, so sadly we never had these UK gems.

Oh god Beanie Baby's...my mom was crazy about them. I was a kid at the time, but I really remember her buying them and selling them during the boom. It's how she started out on eBay. I also remember having to wake up super early to go stand in lines to get the latest one...ugh. I did get to skip school sometimes because of it though. We still have bags of the damned things...and I used to have a drawer full of them before I tossed them all out. I regret it now because I got rid of the Halloween ones that were my favorite lol.

17:30 I squeed. I used to play with those!! They were the next big thing in Portugal once pogs died off. I played with them all the time when I was in year 6! You'd line them up against a wall, pick one to be the slammer, and try to topple over as many as possible. Sort of like a horizontal version of pogs/tazos. I thought they were a Portugal-only thing!

Brittain's Space!! I've been trying to find examples of that for I dunno how long. The guys in yellow had fish-bowl helmets. There were also booklets which listed each sides ships and weapons. I seem to remember some association with KP Crisps (might have been Skips) where you could send off for this stuff. It may have been advertised in the 80's Eagle comic, but the memories are clouded with the mists of vagueness.

I remember the Yoda Stories game for PC you're talking about and it was great, I used to have a demo disc that contained it along with a similar Indiana Jones game. Those games were fantastic.

omg that stunticon semi-truck on the back of that comic. When I was a kid another kid let me borrow it, and my dad threw it out the window of our car on the ride home saying something about how we don't need charity. So I had to explain to that kid I didn't have his toy anymore. ...I guess nostalgia is nostalgia, even when it's a bad memory.

I had an action figure of Chip Hazard when I was younger. May still be knocking around somewhere.

Also, I've directly played with some variation of half the things in that 90s box. We had it good when it came to toys :)
