I remember when the store I worked at got the Princess Diana memorial Beanie Babies. There was a riot... Some woman got her ankle broken... The police came. Watching my then boss disappear into a rabid mob of people with purple bears flying everywhere is still one of my fondest memories.

@@quixotic4233 The offending stimulus was in the video "Genitalia (The Jimquistion)" on Sterling's channel. In the time since I watched it, said video has been age-gated by KZbin. You are now required to show Google a piece of legally-valid I.D. - as proof of one's adulthood - before you can watch it.

When I saw that beanie baby my childhood flashed before my eyes. Train sets, a fuzzy purple car, Cheeks the Baboon, my mother's heartbeat. Dear God I feel weird, and a bit sad. I miss when life was so simple. * a single tear rolls down my face *

15:43 "Who remembers when people thought Beanie Babies were going to be the next big investment"? My mom and aunt were two of them. They would buy those damn things every chance they got in the late 1990's, including driving to various McDonald's to get the "exclusive" ones, and they would get two of everything. They stored them in huge plastic bins and the collection took up a lot of closet space. They asked me to put some on Ebay a couple years ago to get rid of them. I sold exactly ONE to a coworker...for *$1.00*.

The horses in the Girls' Toy Box are from the Pony in my Pocket line - those cards are unmistakable. I remember getting some of the Puppy imP but the details were crap so I abandoned the brand. Had I known that they had upped their game by the time Pony came around I would've gotten a few despite not being a horse person. Girls' box needs more 80s! I do hope you do the girl box again; if I see that they are including more 80s stuff in it I might subscribe myself.

I remember Gogos. Me and my brother managed to collect all of them. The way you played is: each player bets a couple of his Gogos by standing them up next to a wall. Then the other player throws a Gogo and gets to keep the ones he knocked over. Or something like that. It was a pretty big thing at my school.

You actually made me look up "The great red dragon and the woman clothed with the sun". Thanks for pointing me towards those magnificent paintings. Also, the Gogos were used in a kind of game similar to Pog, where you would agree to an amount of Gogos you'd be willing to bet and then you'd all line them up in a fashion similar to bowling and use another Gogo as the "ball" and you got to keep the ones you knocked over. There were other variants such as something similar to beer pong (two lines on each players side and you had to knock over the other player's Gogos in order to keep them) and even a variant similar to pitching pennies, throwing them against a wall with the winner being the one whose Gogo lands nearest to the wall. Weird how many popular children's games resemble adult gambling and are somehow legal.

+George Sampson Allow me to recap the last lootcrate he opened up on camera for you: "Oh looky a T shirt with Archer! This box ain't got many things in it, but it doesn't have that fucking loot pin! The best thing evar! Wow, a Harley Quinn Q Figure! And you can remind yourself of tha- Blah blah blah! I'm throwing a cheap potshot at a DC comics movie several people liked, because I'm Ashens and I think all DC live action movies that aren't the Donner Superman or the Burton Batman are shite! Eeehhhhh!!!!" I think that's the gist of it.

my heart broke when he opened the loony toons. I was transported to the arcade in sunset mall where I habitually wasted half my allowance playing for tickets to buy cards, stickers and tattoos. p.s. totally jealous of the Batman pogs especially Harley Quinn and the red slammer.

I remember that in 1990's all girls played with a Tamagotchi (or other virtual pet), Furby or Barbies. And then there were lots of peeing and pooping baby and animal toys that everyone had.

Yeah I was expecting a Tamagotchi to be in that 90s box. Then it would REALLY be my childhood in a box.

I've actually got the full set of Combaticon transformers... Unfortunately they're largely broken now and various limbs are missing but they were fairly good quality toys. They were re-released in about 2005 (I'd say?) with a desert camo paint scheme, to me they were just cool toys, it's interesting to know that those models have been around since the '80!

I have the 2001 "Ruination" versions of the moulds - the "Commandos" team - from the RID series. The colour scheme works for the figures, but it isn't show-accurate. Got all the Combiner-Kibble, but I've lost many of the weapons.

I used to collect those toy horses as a kid back in the 90's. I think they were called "Pony in my pocket". They also had Kitty in my pocket and Puppy in my pocket toys that I collected. But I'm very pleased to say that I was playing decent games back then and I've never played a Barbie video game in my life. :P

I still collect the old In My Pocket toys. There is actually a whole forum of people who still collect them. If they are mint in pack they go for quite a bit on ebay. You're right about the Barbie, although I can't say my taste in Game Boy games was significantly better than Barbie. I had a Bugs and Lola game, as well as a Smurfs game and Wacky Races. I think I also had a few Disney games too, but then I was about 11 at the time.

Wow I didn't knew about BRITAINS SPACE toy line, guess it never made here to Italy. Did a bit of research and I think it was a fantastic toy line. Back in the 80s italian toy companies imported stuff from U.S. and Japan, so sadly we never had these UK gems.

Oh god Beanie Baby's...my mom was crazy about them. I was a kid at the time, but I really remember her buying them and selling them during the boom. It's how she started out on eBay. I also remember having to wake up super early to go stand in lines to get the latest one...ugh. I did get to skip school sometimes because of it though. We still have bags of the damned things...and I used to have a drawer full of them before I tossed them all out. I regret it now because I got rid of the Halloween ones that were my favorite lol.

17:30 I squeed. I used to play with those!! They were the next big thing in Portugal once pogs died off. I played with them all the time when I was in year 6! You'd line them up against a wall, pick one to be the slammer, and try to topple over as many as possible. Sort of like a horizontal version of pogs/tazos. I thought they were a Portugal-only thing!

Brittain's Space!! I've been trying to find examples of that for I dunno how long. The guys in yellow had fish-bowl helmets. There were also booklets which listed each sides ships and weapons. I seem to remember some association with KP Crisps (might have been Skips) where you could send off for this stuff. It may have been advertised in the 80's Eagle comic, but the memories are clouded with the mists of vagueness.

omg that stunticon semi-truck on the back of that comic. When I was a kid another kid let me borrow it, and my dad threw it out the window of our car on the ride home saying something about how we don't need charity. So I had to explain to that kid I didn't have his toy anymore. ...I guess nostalgia is nostalgia, even when it's a bad memory.
