Which class should you play in Ashes of Creation(AoC)? What race should you pick? What is the best class for dealing damage? What about supporting?.....Maybe you are here just to inform yourself what will be available when the game launches.

You could give ESO a try. I've been playing it for several years, and I personally think it's the best MMO available currently. Ofc whether or not you like is up to you, but if you do need something to play, you can at least give it a chance.

I found Guild Wars' dual profession system great. You didn't get new skills, you were able to use the skills and weapons of both professions. Edit: your primary profession was more able (had higher stats) and you could change your secondary profession in towns to which ever, so when you went out where the combat was, you could be a warrior-monk or warrior-ranger or warrior-necromancer or warrior-assassin and so on.

I reeeaaaally hope the Necromancer can have more than one pet out at a time. A Necro with a singular skeleton minion just doesn't sound like a proper Necro. Being able to amass a horde of skeletons (and other undead) would do the class fantasy justice.

Summoners are able to have up to three pets up, and honestly I consider necromancers to be a specialised version so I really hope they let them have way more than 3

It'd be cool if we *do* get some sort of spell that summons a bunch of weak undead on a timed duration, and then our main pet, the death knight or whomever, buffs them. The idea being our main pet is something like our own personal undead lieutenant or frontline commander. Think Heinrich Kemmler and his wight BFF, Krell from Warhammer.

@Generic JC Denton pic True. Have you heard about Conquest of Azeroth, Project Ascension's upcoming WoW server with custom classes? Well, Necro is one of them and I really like how they handle minions. You generate Runic Power separate from your mana by using spells, dots, whatever, and then you spend all your Runic Power by spamming Raise Skeleton. Each skelly only lasts like 15-20 seconds, but you can amass quite the sizable horde of them. Don't know how balanced it is, but looks fun as hell! Would love to see something like it in Ashes.

I’m slightly torn between having a summoner/ fighter or tank class that’s built to be really good playing by itself, (maybe even a hunter subclass) and an enchanter who focuses on party buffing. I want the enchanter to be a master scribe, because I like log horizon

except there will only be 8 meta classes and if you dont run those 8 you won't get into anything remotely end game or hard, this is the problem these MASS class games fall into, much like Warhammer MMO, it doesn't matter what you LIKE playing if you CAN'T get BiS with it.

It's ultimately spending FAR too much time into designing the fantasy, but not taking into account the reality of the genre and community. 64 classes is absolutely horrible, and a horrible design choice. It'll be cool for the first few months or year, but then it'll become "if you want to do this, play this."

Love how this game is merging some of the best parts of multiple different MMO's. Im fairly in decisive so being able to change 1 class is great. Will defiantly make a summoner tho and try out the different combos. I really hop the crafting system is well put together and a bit more intuitive than a something like WoW. I want to be able to make certian parts of a craft and change the outcome/effects depending on what's used. like a sword having bleed if u use a rigged blade or Fire if u use a flame steel or something. If that is to complicated though maybe a crafting system similar to ESO would be good as well. The mount train profession looks cool as well.

Very ambitious project! For as many combination classes you can choose from, trying to maintain balance for 64 adv class combinations is going to be next to impossible. I have been watching the progress of this game for last few years and what I see looks promising, but I am really concerned when it comes to proper balancing. I am quite curious to see what benefits classes get for choosing a "pure" class through advanced, such as choosing cleric/cleric, fighter/fighter, mage/mage, etc.

I especialy love that race wil matter. if we look at wow, the differences between races are very minute and can be ignored entirely in most cases. i just hope it will be carefully balanced to allow uniqueness without meta class/race combinations being so strong that, say, a dwarf fighter would be seen as a strictly inferior pick to a human fighter.

Im abit late to the comments but i look forward to seeing how a necromancer will play although perosnally for me i always like the idea of a necromacer being a warrior/caster that is able to reanimate corpses as "pets" you know something like nekros's 4th ability from warframe or something simlar in solo leveling, its what come to mind for me when i think of necromacer.

I really hope they have class changes at some point or at least name transfers like BDO because naming a character is more important than anything else especially at launch most will just skip character customization and just start locking names like assholes and as soon as you give up your name and try to make a new character there will always be a chance someone steals it before you finish

I feel like this class system will be the biggest speed bump to release. They keep updating us on other things, but this part of it is going to need a ton of work to make everything smooth. It's so complex. I love it, but to make it so that any combination will be something enjoyable isn't something you just throw together. I think they've only done one hybrid class so far?

Hi Simopa, I agree that this is a very complex part that will need special attention and a ton of work. It will definitely be a big speed bump for the release, but probably not the biggest! I expect that the biggest challenge will be the nodes system and building the world map. Also, they have only tested the base archetypes so far, secondary archetypes/classes are expected in alpha-2 :)

Everything seem to go smoothly as steven planned. How I wish the trading system is like ragnarok online wherein we can put up stalls pretty much everywhere in the city to sell our goods and services because having that kind of platform helps the players to develop loyal customers and make friends in the process. For now the system is pretty much just: having the right tool equipped, walking up to the tree and getting a prompt, then some chopping animation. But the artisan skills are expected to have massive changes close to alpha-2 release

Overall I think this game looks awesome, sounds awesome, love the direction of the overall concepts....but am I the only one that finds the game characters feeling a little lifeless and not that unique? Man, this game will be just that breath of fresh air that will take us back to glorious adventures in a fantasy MMO world and finally away from all the run of the mill Battle Royale or FPS games that are there only to frustrate you and push you to play more by having rigged mechanics (such as the dreadful and hated SBMM)... I've played all the big MMOs for a while (FFXIV, ESO, GW2, WoW) and all of them have huge flaws that ruin some part for me (FFXIV has too big of a GCD and feels sluggish before level 70-80, WoW has become too lonely and non-cooperative, ESO has the best story telling of all time but HORRIBLE combat system, GW2 is great with a good story and combat system but I'm lost on how to follow the whole living story and also Heart of Thorns expansion is trash and annoying).... not even gonna mention BDO... if you like BDO you couldn't tell a good from a bad video game if your fucking life depended on it... seriously, name one good aspect of this game... even the combat system is trash cause you're way too overpowered compared to the monsters you fight and there is no reward in killing things while you grind for days, weeks and months and years... I am so excited for Ashes... finally a new exciting MMO that tries to innovate and not just throw the same old mechanics in my face again... a truly alive world that changes through the players actions... a world that lives around both PvE and PvP through the node system... sounds so impressive and almost too good to be true... can't wait for Gwindiriel, my Elven huntress (been playing the character in MMOs for over a decade now) to explore this world... she's gonna be a ranger/rogue (scout) for sure... Super hyped for this MMO... I truly believe Ashes is the only MMO that has a chance to change the standards by which we measure MMOs forever...

@@Reydanyt I'm not putting all my faith in this game or any game... but I'm saying that if this game doesn't come out being at least 70-80% of the masterpiece it promises to be then I think I'll lose any and all faith in the MMORPG genre... let's be honest... no other MMO promises anything exciting... it's just the same old crap like New World... New World look pretty on the outside but it's a turd on the inside... bullshit content, cheap and boring combat system, bad dungeons, lazy world and lore... just mediocre all the way...

I hope the combat system will not be another tap target like wow or ff14, the combats are so boring you can almost sleep during your rotations, i think action mmo are the future but sadly it's way harder to code, i hope AoC will have dymanic combats, i really hope ... New world as good combat system but way too superficial, not enought skills, variations between them ... But yeah MMo standards have always been so low, compared to the games we have nowadays thats a shame

Although I appreciate the enthusiasm from the developers, as someone who has played MMOs for 17 consecutive years, I think this will be a balancing nightmare. I sincerely hope they keep the intent, but reduce the total classes.

I don't think that the second archetype will change your character so drastically that this will be a problem. Even though they say there are 64 classes, and this is essentially true, your base archetype won't be that different from others. Your role will still be the same, you will just have some different tools at your disposal to perform it. I don't expect complete balance, either way. But I think that it will be less nightmarish than you think.

Elder Scrolls Online is constantly trying to balance out the classes, however, as a result they're afraid to add new classes, and the game has stagnated regarding how many classes we can have. There are only six classes in ESO as of July 2022 and no indication that they'll ever add another one. I'd rather have more choices than have perfect balance.

There’s so few class videos I find myself coming back thinking of all the combination while listening, the fact you can mix things up means for me I’m more likely to play a class I wouldn’t normally main because your secondary and race allows you to bend and patch up the primary
