After our stay in Chattanooga, we went up to Ashville for a few days to camp out at the Asheville East KOA and enjoy some of the local area. We did have a couple day trips that will be shared in separate videos.

If you do come back to Black Mountain you need to go to Phil's BBQ at exit 64 on Interstate 40. They have NC style BBQ, chicken, and the best brisket I have eaten. When you go to Gatlinburg, be sure to visit Cades Cove and look around. Beautiful scenery, wildlife, and really old structures built by the people that settled the area.

@@AbomAdventures Yes, Biltmore is expensive. The last time I visited was in the 70's and it was expensive for the time, but reasonable. The history and grandeur of the place is interesting, but I would bypass it now, knowing what I know. Strictly due to cost. Not worth the investment.
@tigergal56033 жыл бұрын
Biltmore is better is the spring when all the outdoor areas are in bloom. Also, if you schedule it ahead of time it's cheaper and some places around Asheville have discount coupons for other sites around.

Every KOA I have stayed with was either next to a noisy highway or train tracks or both. I also try to avoid buying wood at the KOA for the same reason - wood too green, does not burn.
@AbomAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Many places you go to won’t allow you to bring in firewood from other places. Not that you can’t, but if you come into town looking for firewood, usually the camp is the obvious choice. If it’s kiln dried it usually always burns good. This place was going through so much wood they have trucks coming in daily with loads. You can tell it was recent cuts.

Love the content. Beautiful area. Never good for the forests to bring wood from another forest. That's how you decimate a native tree species with an introduced parasite.
