I'm a simple man... I see a Chadi video... I hit like. Thank you for breaking down all these techniques and giving us their history. It's always fun to see where they all came from.

Hi Chadi, I heard that you are planning to train with Martial Arts Journey (Rokas), this would be a great collab as Rokas can learn about Judo so much from your great knowledge, I hope it happens.

I really thought that Ivan V had a video on the leg knot - turns out it was arm knot BUT Taking It To The Mat has a series on the tech. You might already have seen it but I wanted to be sure you knew of it. Peace and best wishes.

still it is an ashi garami of modern jiu-jitsu as it was in the old time. niju garami is the closed half guard. the difference is in the position of you body related to opponent's

Hi! I'll say it again, you are an expert in your field. I greatly appreciate your videos! Do what you can so that your knowledge will not be lost. I would like to ask, 1)which books do you think I should buy (maybe from amazon or elsewhere) in regards to judo techniques that can be used in a combatives program, that is, books that have good "angle" detailed pictures that one can properly learn the moves of a techniques from. 2) Also, if you know of an instructional dvd series from a teacher you respect, teaching techniques in full detail. Thank you for your time.

I'm not sure about combatives books, I'm still in the Judo books, start with "Kodokan Judo" and "mind over muscle". Regarding instructionals, I say "Superstar Judo" is the best, their archive dates back decades, and their yearly subscription is affordable.

@@Chadi Do the first two books have good instructional pictures? Not interested in history type of books right now, just techniques applicable for combatives. Not combative books.

Front what I understand, isn't ashi garami a general term for leg entanglement, not a specific technique? You can have near, to far side, cross,etc

I think the hip pressure is caused by pulling the upper body towards the feet and the knee pressure is caused by slicing the legs together as though in a scissor motion

Chadi. May I please ask you a question. Is there any book that shows how to do the ashi garami banned leg lock in detail?
@Chadi
@Chadi 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, all the books show it briefly, this video you can understand it better, if I would add something is, the pull on the upper body is crucial to finish the submission and extending the leg (reaping) to further bend the knee and stretch the MCL. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnuzcmNjZ76hitU

Don't forget M.M. tears you may easily cause with Ashi Garami. Many Judoka and BJJ practitioners end up with partial or full meniscus tears eventually, esp. where ashi garami, lock downs, calf slicers or heel hooks are introduced. If soneone is training for special military or police operations, these techniques (and how to counter them) may be required, but if not, I would avoid practicing them, if possible.
