I've pitched a lot of different ideas about how Teyvat could be structured, but I've never really talked about how it was MADE - and the combination Simulanka and Natlan really got me interested in Teyvat's early years, so I thought now would be a great time to turn back the clocks and see if we can't unravel Teyvat's GREATEST mystery: its Genesis.

@Ashikai I think you're on to something, but I don't believe they were able to defeat the dragons with the abyss. After all, if they control the abys, why would they have had to drop those nails? How could the abyss order even exist? I believe they understood the processes of manipulating the world far better than the dragons, and they used that to their advantage to weaken the dragons and strengthen themselves. That's just my opinion though, just thought I'd share it with you. And as always, it was a great video!

Zhongli's in game kit is fun to look at in terms of his lore implications too: Skill is a stone pillar that creates a shield and resonates with other pillars/constructs. I liken it to teleport waypoints that are formed along the leylines that and connect all throughout teyvat. The leylines are a sort of defense force against the abyss in that they are what maintain order in the world. Burst is a meteor that hits hard and petrifies the enemies in its AOE - much like a celestial nail hitting down into Teyvat, petrifying the land in order to create resonance between the leylines. Zhongli is just... mystery incarnate.

Omg some much to think on. I think in Teyvat I may not just be language and pictures that offer logos/control/fate but all methods of communication, including music and dance. Hence the names Aria, Sonata (Sonnet miss translation) and Canon all being musical movements that can have words and dance. Nabu Malikata/ Nilou have show cases the power of dance and Venti bad his songs looking suss as ever. Super random but I think your theory makes Shenhe and Yunjin side story more relevant, the relationship between 'reality' and written/spoken/song story and how they shaped each other was maybe a hint at the relationship between choice and fate/authority/logos in teyvat.

After seeing that the Ancient dragons had advanced weaponry reshaped my view of the war between celestial and the dragons that the book of sun and moon described. The entire time im sure we all thought that it was dragons being purely supernatural creatures fighting against an alien race that was equipped with power that overpowered the dragons. Tying back to Hoyo’s other games, is part 2 of HI3rd which introduces a thing called source data, which is extracted from sea of data, which when first introduced is akin to the sea of quanta, which can be extracted to create anything from food, tech etc. Paralleling this source data is the power of shadows which using the power of fear can also be transmuted into food and stuff from essentially nothing. This shadow is also the main bad guy of part 2 as while the foodstuffs produced using the power of shadow through fear is the only way for the populace to survive, it also produces monsters which are a malevolent force plaguing said populace and threatens to destroy Mars where the story of Part 2 takes place. Now major spoilers to part 2, the entirety of part 2 takes place in a simulation, a sorta simulated universe. But they also reuse the idea of samsara, because like part 1 and GGZ, the entirety of part 2 is revealed to be the world being reset again and again as your play through is only 1 of many repeating cycles of the same story with the same cast members until the cycle is broken.

So how are we feeling on the firmament may be the egg shell? Cause I’ve seen other theories that the primordial one is a child of a sun (light realm) dragon and moon (night kingdom) dragon. Since those came first and live in different realms I don’t think it’s too far a stretch to say phanes was born in an egg, refuses to leave said egg, and all of teyvat is his “dreams” or “stories” if you will. Would make sense why breaking past the firmament lets people see fate and live outside teyvat.

Origin Story (Before meeting the player): 500 years ago, a huge revolt occurred in the kingdom of Khaenri'ah, in which the nigh-deranged old king planned to break the seal over the Irminsul Maze. This revolt caused not only an overthrow of the court, but also brought a huge cataclysm upon the continent itself. Heroes came forward to stop the mad old king, but they could not prevent the disaster from occurring. Khaenri'ah, once prosperous, was washed away in a single night. The five heroes there turned and caused the destruction of Khaenri'ah. The Five Heroes thus became the five culprits known as Sinners, feared by all the living. Dain was the younger brother of one of the Sinners: Schikshal the oracle. Having joined forces to stop the ambitions of the old king, Dain was betrayed at the last moment. The Five made a pact with the Honkai, and became the enemies of the world. But his brother, the oracle, took pity on him, and gave him a ring that stored Honkai energy. When Dain woke, he had already been cursed with undeath, and could only maintain his sense of self with the help of that ring. Crying tears of blood, he memorialized all that he had lost, and set out into the wilderness on the path of vengeance. Character Development and Exploration (Iteration and Growth): His attitude towards the other twin is more worth pondering. At first, he wanted to kill him/her to save his motherland, but they eventually became the only two people who remembered the incident in Khaenri'ah. In their travels together, they developed a very close bond. When his Honkai Energy is all but spent, being near the twins can also help Dain recharge. Only with his/her help does Dain have any hope of getting his revenge. The Sinners will even say that he ""has finally obtained the sword that [he] wanted."" Dain, however, denies this. To him, the twins are not weapons to be wielded.
