athletes are NOT clowns in circus nor paid to be animals in an act.. they are simply there to put of a show of their pure talents. What disgust me about these type of meets can injure athletes. Event like these are a fine example. Ashima and all time world champ Alex. Well done. Simply don't participate an even like these in the near future. which can hinder your future in competing.

Cmon man it’s bad but it’s not quite like that, the only reason why athletes get paid is because people like to watch them like animals at the zoo You think football would have as much money involved if there was no spectating

I suppose a simultaneous jump is good, because it could be very dangerous if they jump one after another. A similar jump from a platform into water was done at Tough Mudder on their 12-foot-tall wall into a pool of water. A lady jumped afterwards, and landed on the head of someone who had just jumped a second before her, killing him. Instead of 12 feet, this wall is 55 feet.
@vidjdwhite9 жыл бұрын
+Rugged Maniac Yeah but they are at-least 5, 6 feet apart here. One would need to literally jump from the same spot in order to fall on top of the other. We are not kites Maniac we do not sway in the wind!!!!!!
@tenishotshot8 жыл бұрын
+John D If one starts swimming away while the other decides to jump, it could be pretty disastrous. This is why a simultaneous jump is safe, because of exactly what you said: they are not kites swaying in the wind. You just proved the point right. :P
@vidjdwhite8 жыл бұрын
TennisHotShot Thanks I am good at proving points right!! Why would they swim to the other corner though? In the way of the other swimmer? They swim to their side and out.
@zerobeat20206 жыл бұрын
They should not have had to jump at all. There should be save egress for the climbers. They are climbers, not divers. The water is there as a safety net, not part of the "show". Furthermore, there should have been adequate safety barriers at the top away form the water. Clearly this event takes place in a country where a dead, severely injured or disabled athlete is all part of the course for the sake of entertainment.
@gargaduk6 жыл бұрын
How about one jumps, swims away, then the other jumps. They have eyes to look down, and they have the time to wait.

Keep in mind this a competition setting. Probably was a bit nervous and sweating more than usual.
@rushthezeppelin8 жыл бұрын
diver dave It depends on the climb. In some situations it can get in the way if placed in front. There's also a big issue on overhanging routes that you could dump your chalk all over your chest doing this. It can also be an issue on routes that are very balancey where you might need to be sucked into the wall as much as possible. Also in general you are letting your arm dangle behind you to rest sometimes and this makes it convenient to rest and chalk at the same time.

@Moguta09 жыл бұрын
+shaikha almeer Speed climbing isn't a representation of climbing ability. Ashima can climb sport routes that very few women can climb (2 or 3 or something? Maybe a couple more), but this sort of free-solo adds the element of fear due to the fall if you screw up a move and doesn't asesss technical climbing ability as much as pace
