Hey there, I'm Kenyan, my question is, how many single mothers are struggling in Nigeria looking for school fees for their children? Why are the African pastors (Kenyan pastors included) jetting around the world, yet the need is right there at their door step? My guess is, that our pastors have been swept by the wave of showing off!! They too one to show that they can afford to go abroad!!!

It was foolish for Pastor Adeboye to have that busy schedule at his age. The excesses of these Pastors can not be justified, more so when it comes at the expense of their congregation. It demonstrates lack of compassion on their part. When Jesus Christ was on earth, they could not tell him apart from his disciples, hence his accusers had to go through Judas. Most of todays Pastors are manipulators and bad examples. To these feckless pastors, if the church they lead can not function in their absence, then they have failed woefully. Being head of a church is not about controlling, dominating and having followers it should be about service.

Technology has made things much easier. Meetings are conducted without the need for one's physical presence, emails and telephones are available for use. Prayers are prayed for someone at one end of the earth and are answered to effect others at the other end of the earth without the need for any pastor to get into a private jet for the sole purpose of going to pray for some group of people somewhere. Televisions, radios and other media are available to air information through satellites to people wherever they may be all over the world. I wander what emergencies pastor Ashimolowo was talking about that would warrant the use of a private jet. Would he travelling on emergency to go and raise the dead? Is it more than meetings and prayers?

@@EmmanuelOgundipe The restrictions have been on commercial flights, not private aviation. I know this because I operate in the private aviation space. Everything Ashimolowo said was 100% correct. Don't get me wrong, some pastors are exploiting their church but with the examples given here, he's 100% right. Also, Skype won't cut it. When you have an organisation of that size, physical meetings are essential. Even FTSE 500 companies continued conducting physical meetings.

Start taxing them. Pastors are mastering tax evasion by setting up businesses under the church umbrella (publishing houses, schools, universities, hotels, restaurants). Their source of funds for businesses does not reflect market interest rates and therefore legitimate tax paying investors are not on a level playing field. Not paying taxes rob cities and countries of needed money from taxation. These scam churches therefore contribute to under-development. And this is just one aspect.

Private Jet for Pastors is not about honouring the Lord but to boost the ego of the so called men of God, in the time of Jesus Christ when he need to travel by boat he did not acquire his own private boat or Yacht and use busy schedule as an excuse rather he travel on commercial boat like others (2) Man of God is not known by the amount of meetings he handle in a year but by his genuine closeness to the Lord who called him, how can you teach intimacy with God using your life as an example when you are strong advocate of globe trotting, Jesus Christ in his life teaching does not promote wasteful enterprise when he fed more than 5000 people in the desert he told the disciples to gather all the fragments that remain so that nothing wasted. Todays the cost fuel for some of the average private jet is about $1250-$1500 per hour of flight, not to include cost of insurance, airports tax, maintenance etc yet all this have to be paid for from the weekly offering of members in a country where majority of people live on less than $4 a day, From a scriptural point of view Pastor Mathew is wrong, from an economic point of view he is terribly wrong and from an ethical point of view he is shamefully wrong. Those who did not see anything wrong are those whose heart had been ensnared with worldly lust.

That's a good question! Preaching to hungry stomach people why they fly around in private jets. Are souls/fruits that will remain being won with all these travels. Are there no other pastors in those places they fly to that can preach to those people there, why they use all the money they are using to be flying around to take care of the needs of their church members. A grey heir 60 year old man need not lack wisdom as a man of God. Ashimolowo talked about itinerary. He was also and always talking about millions and millions of pounds; the reason he ditched Nigerian Naira to come to Great Britain in search of British pounds and not for any other reason; since there are many other African countries he could have gone to preach the Word. No man of God need to go thousands of miles away to preach the Gospel in this modern time of technology; no need for any private jet at all. How many churches did Jesus build while on earth? How many General overseeing did Jesus do? Yet, Jesus affected people's lives without his physical presence. He cured people many thousand miles away without having to be there; He just spoke the Word and all tasks accomplished. Same applied to his Apostles. Even, the 2 pence Jesus used to pay tax to the Roman emperor Augustus Caesar was retrieved from the belly of a fish; He had no need to carry cash with him. These guys are supposed to be spiritual in all they do, instead they rely so much on things physical and ostentatious such as money and property; pretending they needed these material things to accomplish God's work. Over and above all, I think they should be handed over to God's court of justice. Period.

The U.K. proved MA as a NGO that sent over 50mil or so to orphanage homes in the U.K. And had Tax returns. The Gov paid KICC to move out as they prepare for the Olympics so they do recognize his legitimacy. It was our Lord Jesus that said greater things you will do.... isn't this what we are seeing? If the gospel has to be spread to the whole world, then no one under the sun is limited to go beyond what people see and hear. Thank God for His grace and blessing on His servants. We are not saved to be poor. For we know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ though He was rich became poor so that we will be rich.(2Corinthians 8:9) So to be rich ìn the Kingdom is a manifestation of the grace of Jesus Christ and to be average or poor is an indication that His grace is either not available or not activated. We are the light of the world, if unbelievers are buying private jets, there is no reason under heaven that can stop us from buying better ones. The wealth is mine declares the Lord(Haggai 2:8) The world belongs to God with everything in it (Psalm 24:1) ...if a man do not provide for his own he has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel but God is not an infidel that the reason for the lavish provisions. Everyone who serves God deserves to be wealthy, peoples opinion not withstanding. If they obey and serve me says the Lord, they will live all their life in wealth, prosperity and pleasure, (Job 36:11) Nobody can be more righteous or holy than God yet He says He takes pleasure at the wealth, peace and prosperity of His sarvants (Psalm35:27) Blessed is he who serves the Lord and delights in His word, his products shall be mighty upon the earth, his generations shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house as his righteousness endures forever.(Psalm 112:1-3) Poverty, lack and want are not indications of righteousness or holiness. There is no heaven in poverty and there is no poverty in heaven. According to God's word when we are saved we are raised together with Christ and sit in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. And God has raised us up together with Jesus Christ and has made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6) Anyone who doesn't believe that lacks understanding or is another Judas Iscariot who complains for the wealth used to take care of Jesus and later betrayed the Lord. may you not live in poverty and may you be empowered to buy private jets but if your faith can't take don't criticize it, because that will amount to application for generational poverty and limitations. Before you criticize the Pastor or ministry with a private jet look at the context of the ministry. The Pastor's I know with private jets have a magnitude of ministry to accomodate them. We must remember that though a the Church is not an organisation it has an oragnisational structure which effectively needs some level of leadership and management which requires certain resources. For some churches (again i emphasize depending on the magnitude of their ministry) they may need a private jet.

Don't say he is "rationalizing" because he is not. He is stating the truth which should have been obvious for people to see. But where people are so blinded by biases, envy and jealousy, they never see the good side of this. It is like an abomination for some people to hear that the church is prospering - it bites them hard. And it is nothing new - the scriptures have the same records. The familiar tune of course, is that suffering masses are being taken advantage of but they deliberately belittle and turn a blind eye to the multitudes of these same masses that are being helped and set free through the ministry of these anointed men of God.

The "head pastor" does not need to be at all those meetings. In the early church, the leadership was not one man, but a group of leaders called Apostles. The church has deviated from the simple guidelines and examples of the early church.

I know people are going to tear me apart for my comments but I am not justifying the use of a jet by any Pastor because sincerely some don't need one but I think considering the itinerary and size of some ministries it is necessary. For example the schedule that Pastors such as Pastor Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo have will be almost impossible to maintain without a private jet. And personally I think there are few other ministries in Nigeria and I will say not more than 10 than should have a jet.
