The shrouded ghost may not have a number associated with it, but many conditionals. There may be many different environment characteristics or player conditions that need to be met in order for it to spawn

It really isn’t though, it’s just a low spawn rate. People have been just sailing and gotten it, me and my friend did a fleet in the storm nearby the sea dog tavern and got it.

@@ShamanMcLamie if you’re implying that it has prerequisites to spawn, or it’s fake, you’re wrong both times. Me and a friend did a skelly fleet at the sea dog tavern a good year and a half after we got the game, it spawned after. Some other of my friends have had it spawn in a storm on a cargo run, others just sailing around in between the wild and devils roar, and another one who got it about two months after he got the game and he just left an outpost. It’s just random, you can’t spawn it, and there’s no way to raise the spawn rate, you just have to be lucky. Only two people I have met have legendary hunter, and they chock it up to luck, since they did different things each time it spawned.

I knew all of these (I am very surprised with how much I know, and I’m still dropping a like) but when it comes to spawning the shrouded ghost, or at least abusing some rng to force it, I have had some interesting happenings. On one occasion, I was in a two-Reaper five- galley alliance, we did 5 FOTDs and on each time where one gally went from the FOTD with the new loot, as we took turns ferrying each haul, a Meg spawned on each way to the reapers hideout, but never on the way back. Interesting thing is, we never killed or engaged the megs, on our fifth and final FOTD, both galleys sailed side by side about a brigs length between us, and we heard that classic Meg rumbling below. We were ready to just ignore it, but as we look to the stern of our ships we saw not one, but TWO megs spawn at once at the same distance from one another as our ships. HERES THE KICKER HOWEVER, both megs were differing species one was the hungering one while the other was crested queen. I have tested similar circumstances alone, a grade 5 reapers Sailing from a completed FOTD to reapers, and every time I got a meg to spawn, now I might just be lucky, but this is to often to ignore. One of our galleys stopped, but the game tried to correct itself and had both megs on conflicting paths leave, then only one came back shortly after. Could one replicate his with 5 grade 5 reapers perhaps? Small clip on my profile with the two megs spawning, it’s not a lot but I have more footage of y’all want more

The crested queen spawned on a ship we were heading to once, we werent close enough for the meg to spawn on us, but when we got inside the meg range a second queen spawned. The other ship killed one and the other ran away, very odd.

I personally felt like they didn't want the exact Spawn number for the shrouded ghost getting out because it's one of the few things you can't really grind out and feels like a proper legend of the sea and when you start putting exact numbers and values on it, it would start to feel less special and more like a rare MMO drop.

I am pretty sure that the shrouded ghost needs some conditions to spawn, i once saw it and i was fighting 2 skeleton ships and had a flag on lvl 5, it might be "if you are in this conditions, and a megalodon tries to spawn, it will be the shrouded ghost, and if that is the case, and we know that conditions, then we can exploit it

They said, in the same devstream, that everyday more than one shrouded ghost spawns worldwide. I would say the number is 2. I don't exactly know how many players play the game daily but according to some statistics from the internet, around 2M players play the game daily. Considering an average crew size of 2, this would mean only 2 crews find it in a million crew, every day. This calculation yields an approximate minimum chance of your crew encountering a shrouded ghost in any given day of 1/500000.

Fun fact about the Shrouded Ghost spawn rates: I asked a rare community manager myself on discord a while back, and turns out some of the team do know the real spawn rates... But they're just really really not allowed to tell.

For example, in gameplay from the prototype, you can see that they had a way to hide in supply barrels, and in s14 they’re adding the ability to hide in chests, which could be an evolution of this idea.

So for the shrouded ghost, I'm pretty sure it is a controlled spawn rate. In community forums, when people post about having just gotten it, the posts usually come up in groups, and it seems like 4 to 8 or something like that spawn at a time.

Shrouded Ghost is real, my friend has it. We always sloop together and the one time I wasn't with him he got it. He wears the title too. He only had about 6 months into the game when he got it. He thinks it was sunset in the open area between Reapers and Wanderers, but he wasn't really sure.

Umm... 0.01% would be 1 in 10.000 But I‘ll add something to this: Devs stated that in 2 days of August 2019 11 Shrouded Ghosts were killed. They also stated, that in 2 days of January 2019 about 7500 Megalodons in total were killed. If we‘d say there were about the same number of people playing the game at those 2 times, the chance would be something about 1/700

I honestly came up with a theory that a megalodon or a ghost ship or something like that only spawns whenever you have some sort of treasure on your ship, of course I am not entirely sure whether this is true but the only times a megalodon have ever spawned was when we like had something to lose, and once a ghost ship literally spawned when we had a bunch of skulls and chests.

For the harpoon one you dont actually need to hit the harpoon just get in it and then get off it will reset the animation and discontinue the sword lunge.

I think the shrouded is about 1/5k-10k I have received the shrouded once and have had a few friends with 1 or more and that is the respective number we came apon. Fought to many megs :(. And there is known way to exploit megs spawns to make them spawn more often

I honestly believe Megalodons and skeleton ships are a scripted event and not random whatsoever. They happen at the most inconvenient times. Normally happens after a fort, during pvp or just before you reach an outpost with loot. There probably is some RNG in place but I feel they’re more scripted than rng.

Do.. Do the devs spawn in the shrouded ghost? that would be a possible explanation on why he said "there is no spawn rate number." speculation speculation.

That would require someone to flick a switch but I guess they could press a button or something to turn on the chances of spawning?

I’ve been playing since day one have the eye patch and all but still haven’t seen the shrouded ghost. That’s all I have left to do in the game once I see it I can finally retire a happy pirate, or maybe I’ll be trapped in the game forever.
